A false witness will not go unpunished, And one who declares lies will not escape.

Malicious witnesses rise up; They ask me things that I do not know.

If a malicious witness rises up against a person to testify against him of wrongdoing,then both people who have the dispute shall stand before the Lord, before the priests and the judges who will be in office in those days.And the judges shall investigate thoroughly, and if the witness is a false witness and he has testified against his brother falsely,then you shall do to him just as he had planned to do to his brother. So you shall eliminate the evil from among you.And the rest of the people will hear and be afraid, and will never again do such an evil thing among you.So you shall not show pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, and foot for foot.

Now the chief priests and the entire Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death.They did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on two came forward,and said,“ This man stated,‘ I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days.’ ”

You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people; and you are not to jeopardize the life of your neighbor. I am the Lord.

One who conceals hatred has lying lips, And one who spreads slander is a fool.

and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who disparage your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.

Keep far from a false charge, and do not kill the innocent or the righteous, for I will not acquit the guilty.

A false witness who declares lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.

unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self control, brutal, haters of good,

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,“ Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down, the one who accuses them before our God day and night.

And why not say( just as we are slanderously reported and as some claim that we say),“ Let’s do evil that good may come of it”? Their condemnation is deserved.

‘ You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another.

A false witness will not go unpunished, And one who declares lies will perish.

He does not slander with his tongue, Nor do evil to his neighbor, Nor bring shame on his friend;

Therefore, ridding yourselves of falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, because we are parts of one another.

And soldiers also were questioning him, saying,“ What are we to do, we as well?” And he said to them,“ Do not extort money from anyone, nor harass anyone, and be content with your wages.”

Then he* said to Him,“ Which ones?” And Jesus said,“ You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not give false testimony;

A false witness will perish, But a person who listens will speak forever.

But Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord,“ Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I am giving to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I am giving back four times as much.”

and seat two worthless men opposite him, and have them testify against him, saying,‘ You cursed God and the king.’ Then take him out and stone him to death.”So the men of his city, the elders and the nobles who lived in his city, did just as Jezebel had sent word to them, just as it was written in the letters which she had sent them.They proclaimed a fast, and seated Naboth at the head of the people.Then the two worthless men came in and sat opposite him; and the worthless men testified against him, against Naboth, before the people, saying,“ Naboth cursed God and the king.” So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death with stones.

Furthermore, he has slandered your servant to my lord the king; but my lord the king is like the angel of God, therefore do what is good in your sight.

What will He give to you, and what more will He do to you, You deceitful tongue?

And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will appease him and keep you out of trouble.”And they took the money and did as they had been instructed; and this story was widely spread among the Jews and is to this day.

An evildoer listens to wicked lips; A liar pays attention to a destructive tongue.

The north wind brings rain, And a gossiping tongue brings an angry face.

For I have heard the whispering of many,“ Terror on every side! Denounce him; let’s denounce him!” All my trusted friends, Watching for my fall, say:“ Perhaps he will be persuaded, so that we may prevail against him And take our revenge on him.”

A worthless witness makes a mockery of justice, And the mouth of the wicked swallows wrongdoing.

Like a club, a sword, and a sharp arrow Is a person who gives false testimony against his neighbor.

Then the king said,“ And where is your master’s son?” And Ziba said to the king,“ Behold, he is staying in Jerusalem, for he said,‘ Today the house of Israel will restore the kingdom of my father to me.’ ”

One who declares truth tells what is right, But a false witness, deceit.

Do not be a witness against your neighbor for no reason, And do not deceive with your lips.

Do not turn me over to the desire of my enemies, For false witnesses have risen against me, And the violent witness.
