“ If someone borrows an animal from a neighbor and it is injured or dies when the owner is absent, the person who borrowed it must pay full compensation.

“人若向邻舍借什么，所借的或受伤，或死，本主没有同在一处，借的人总要赔还；

“人若向邻舍借牲畜，所借的或伤或死，原主没有在场，借的人总要赔偿。

“人若向邻舍借牲畜，所借的或伤或死，原主没有在场，借的人总要赔偿。

倘若有人向邻居借牲畜，牲畜受伤或死掉，而当时物主不在场，借的人就要赔偿。

“如果人向邻舍借什么，所借的无论是受了伤，或是死了，物主不在场，借的人就必须偿还。

「人若向鄰舍借甚麼，所借的或受傷，或死，本主沒有同在一處，借的人總要賠還；

「人若向鄰舍借牲畜，所借的或傷或死，原主沒有在場，借的人總要賠償。

「人若向鄰舍借牲畜，所借的或傷或死，原主沒有在場，借的人總要賠償。

倘若有人向鄰居借牲畜，牲畜受傷或死掉，而當時物主不在場，借的人就要賠償。

“ If anyone borrows an animal from their neighbor and it is injured or dies while the owner is not present, they must make restitution.

“ Suppose someone borrows an animal from their neighbor. And it gets hurt or dies while the owner is not there. Then the borrower must pay for it.

“ If a man borrows anything of his neighbor, and it is injured or dies, the owner not being with it, he shall make full restitution.

“ When a man borrows an animal from his neighbor, and it is injured or dies while its owner is not there with it, the man must make full restitution.

“ And if someone borrows an animal from his neighbor, and it is injured or dies while its owner is not with it, he shall make full restitution.

“ And if a man borrows anything from his neighbor, and it becomes injured or dies, the owner of it not being with it, he shall surely make it good.

And if a man borrow aught of his neighbor, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof not being with it, he shall surely make restitution.

“ When a man borrows an animal from his neighbor, and it is injured or dies while its owner is not there with it, the man must make full restitution.

And if a man borrow[ ought] of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof[ being] not with it, he shall surely make[ it] good.

“ If a man borrows an animal from his neighbor, and it is hurt or dies when its owner was not with it, the man who borrowed it will surely pay.

“ If a man borrows anything of his neighbor’s, and it is injured, or dies, its owner not being with it, he shall surely make restitution.

The wicked borrow and never repay, but the godly are generous givers.

This is how it must be done. Everyone must cancel the loans they have made to their fellow Israelites. They must not demand payment from their neighbors or relatives, for the Lord’s time of release has arrived.

The owner of the pit must pay full compensation to the owner of the animal, but then he gets to keep the dead animal.

Give to those who ask, and don’t turn away from those who want to borrow.

And others said,“ We have had to borrow money on our fields and vineyards to pay our taxes.

“ Do not charge interest on the loans you make to a fellow Israelite, whether you loan money, or food, or anything else.You may charge interest to foreigners, but you may not charge interest to Israelites, so that the Lord your God may bless you in everything you do in the land you are about to enter and occupy.

“ Anyone who kills another person’s animal must pay for it in full— a live animal for the animal that was killed.

The neighbor must then take an oath in the presence of the Lord. If the Lord confirms that the neighbor did not steal the property, the owner must accept the verdict, and no payment will be required.

“ Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked.
