Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need.

For the commandments,“ You shall not commit adultery,”“ You shall not murder,”“ You shall not steal,”“ You shall not covet,” and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely,“ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

He said to him,“ Which ones?” Jesus said,“‘ You shall not murder.’‘ You shall not commit adultery.’‘ You shall not steal.’‘ You shall not offer false testimony.’

“‘ You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him.“‘ The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning.

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,“ If anyone sins, and commits a trespass against Yahweh, and deals falsely with his neighbor in a matter of deposit, or of bargain, or of robbery, or has oppressed his neighbor,or has found that which was lost, and lied about it, and swearing to a lie— in any of these things that a man sins in his actions—then it shall be, if he has sinned, and is guilty, he shall restore that which he took by robbery, or the thing which he has gotten by oppression, or the deposit which was committed to him, or the lost thing which he found,or any thing about which he has sworn falsely: he shall restore it in full, and shall add a fifth part more to it. He shall return it to him to whom it belongs in the day of his being found guilty.He shall bring his trespass offering to Yahweh: a ram without defect from the flock, according to your estimation, for a trespass offering, to the priest.The priest shall make atonement for him before Yahweh, and he will be forgiven concerning whatever he does to become guilty.”

Hear this, you who desire to swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail,Saying,‘ When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals, and sell the sweepings with the wheat?’”

Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.

We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with plunder.You shall cast your lot among us. We’ll all have one purse.”My son, don’t walk on the path with them. Keep your foot from their path,

“‘ You shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in measures of length, of weight, or of quantity.You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin. I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.“‘ You shall observe all my statutes and all my ordinances, and do them. I am Yahweh.’”

He said to them,“ Collect no more than that which is appointed to you.”Soldiers also asked him, saying,“ What about us? What must we do?” He said to them,“ Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages.”

A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight.

nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom.

If a man is found stealing any of his brothers of the children of Israel, and he deals with him as a slave, or sells him, then that thief shall die. So you shall remove the evil from among you.

“ Anyone who kidnaps someone and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.

For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he will not build it up.“ Because he knew no quietness within him, he will not save anything of that in which he delights.There was nothing left that he didn’t devour, therefore his prosperity will not endure.In the fullness of his sufficiency, distress will overtake him. The hand of everyone who is in misery will come on him.

You shall not have in your bag diverse weights, one heavy and one light.You shall not have in your house diverse measures, one large and one small.You shall have a perfect and just weight. You shall have a perfect and just measure, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.For all who do such things, all who do unrighteously, are an abomination to Yahweh your God.

Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that goes out over the surface of the whole land; for everyone who steals shall be cut off according to it on the one side; and everyone who swears falsely shall be cut off according to it on the other side.I will cause it to go out,” says Yahweh of Armies,“ and it will enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears falsely by my name; and it will remain in the middle of his house, and will destroy it with its timber and its stones.”

that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.

He said to them,“ It is written,‘ My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers!”

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.

Their hands are on that which is evil to do it diligently. The ruler and judge ask for a bribe; and the powerful man dictates the evil desire of his soul. Thus they conspire together.

“ Indeed they don’t know to do right,” says Yahweh,“ Who hoard plunder and loot in their palaces.”

Are there yet treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and a short ephah that is accursed?Shall I be pure with dishonest scales, and with a bag of deceitful weights?
