于是，他们指派督工管辖他们，加重他们的重担苦害他们，他们为法老建造两座贮货城，就是比东和兰塞。

你们所有劳苦担重担的人哪，到我这里来吧！我必使你们得安息。

法老的督工责打他们派定的以色列人的首领，说：“你们昨天今天为什么没有做完指定要你们做的砖，像往日一样呢？”

我所拣选的禁食不是这样吗？不是要松开凶恶的锁链，解开轭上的绳索，使被压迫的获得自由，折断所有的轭吗？

耶和华说：“我的子民在埃及所受的痛苦，我实在看见了；他们因受督工的辖制所发的呼声，我也听见了；他们的痛苦，我是知道的。

摩西学尽了埃及人的一切学问，说话行事都有能力。“到了四十岁，他心中起了一个念头，要去看望自己的同胞以色列人。当他看见有一个人受欺负，就去护卫，为那受屈的抱不平，打死了那个埃及人。

你们要把更重的工作加在这些人的身上，好使他们专心作工，不听谎言。”
