Moses told his father-in-law about everything the Lord had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians for Israel’s sake and about all the hardships they had met along the way and how the Lord had saved them.

你在苦難中向我呼求，我就拯救了你，從雷聲隆隆的密雲中應允了你。我在米利巴泉邊考驗你。（細拉）

耶和華救贖的人，就是祂從敵人手中救贖出來、從東西南北招聚的人，都要稱謝祂。

他們忘記了祂的大能，忘記了祂救他們脫離壓迫的日子，也忘記了祂在埃及所行的神蹟，在瑣安的田野所行的奇事。

「你看見我們祖先在埃及所受的苦，又聽見他們在紅海邊的呼求，就行神蹟奇事對付法老及其所有的臣僕和國民，因為你知道他們對以色列人行事狂傲。你使自己威名遠揚直到今日。你在我們祖先面前把海水分開，使他們在海中走乾地過去；你把追趕他們的人扔進深海，好像把石頭扔進大水中。白天，你用雲柱帶領他們；夜間，你用火柱照亮他們當走的路。你降臨在西奈山，從天上與他們說話，賜給他們公正的典章、信實的律法、美好的律例和誡命。你使他們知道你的神聖安息日，藉你僕人摩西賜給他們誡命、律例和法度。他們餓了，你賜下天糧給他們吃；他們渴了，你使磐石流出水給他們喝。你吩咐他們去佔領你起誓賜給他們的土地。

耶和華啊，你大能的右手顯出榮耀；耶和華啊，你的右手擊碎仇敵。

願世世代代頌讚你的事蹟，傳揚你大能的作為。我要默想你的榮耀、威嚴和奇妙作為。人們要述說你令人敬畏的大能作為，我也要傳揚你的偉大事蹟。他們要訴說你的厚恩，歌頌你的公義。耶和華有恩典和憐憫，不輕易發怒，充滿慈愛。耶和華善待萬民，憐憫祂所造的萬物。耶和華啊，你所創造的萬物都要稱謝你，你忠心的子民也要稱頌你。他們要述說你國度的榮耀，講論你的大能，好讓世人知道你大能的作為和你國度的威嚴與榮耀。

敬畏上帝的人啊，你們都來聽吧，我要告訴你們祂為我所做的事。

你們要稱謝耶和華，呼求祂的名，在列邦傳揚祂的作為。要歌頌、讚美祂，述說祂一切奇妙的作為。

「我們還不如當初在埃及就死在耶和華手中。在那裡，我們至少可以圍在肉鍋旁吃個飽。現在，你把我們帶到曠野來，是要叫全體會眾餓死在這裡嗎？」

這孩子不和我一同回去，我如何見我父親呢？我不願看到災難臨到我父親。」

摩西帶領以色列人離開紅海，來到書珥曠野，走了三天仍然找不到水喝。到了瑪拉，那裡的水卻是苦的，不能喝。因此那地方叫瑪拉。百姓就埋怨摩西說：「我們喝什麼呢？」

驚駭恐懼籠罩著他們。耶和華啊，你臂膀的大能嚇得他們僵立如石，直到你的子民都安然走過，直到你買贖的子民都安然走過。

上帝啊，我從小就受你的教導，直到今日我仍傳揚你奇妙的作為。上帝啊，就是我年老髮白的時候，求你也不要丟棄我，好讓我把你的大能告訴下一代，世代相傳。上帝啊，你的公義高達穹蒼，你成就了奇妙大事。上帝啊，有誰能像你？你使我經歷了許多患難，最終必使我重獲新生，救我脫離死亡的深淵。
