你和這些與你在一起的百姓都必疲憊，因為這事太重，你獨自一人做不了。

撒母耳不喜悅他們說「立一個王治理我們」，他就向耶和華禱告。耶和華對撒母耳說：「你只管聽從百姓向你說的一切話，因為他們不是厭棄你，而是厭棄我，不要我作他們的王。

耶和華對撒母耳說：「你只管聽從他們的話，為他們立一個王。」撒母耳對以色列人說：「去，你們各歸各城吧！」

軍兵卻說：「你不可出戰。若是我們逃跑，敵人不會把心放在我們身上；我們陣亡一半，敵人也不會把心放在我們身上。但現在你一人抵過我們萬人，所以你最好留在城裏支援我們。」

然而，我為你們肉身活着更加要緊。既然我這樣深信，就知道仍要留在世間，且與你們眾人一起存留，使你們在所信的道上又長進又喜樂，

耶和華與亞伯拉罕說完了話就走了；亞伯拉罕也回到自己的地方去了。

保羅和巴拿巴跟他們發生了激烈的爭執和辯論；大家就決定指派保羅、巴拿巴和本會的幾個人，為所辯論的事上耶路撒冷去見使徒和長老。

你們看，耶和華既然將安息日賜給你們，所以第六天他就賜給你們兩天的食物，第七天各人都要留在自己的地方，不許任何人從這裏出去。」
