摩西就把她们的请求呈到耶和华面前。

那时，因为你们害怕那烈火，没有到山上去，我就站在耶和华和你们中间，把耶和华的话传给你们。耶和华说，

约瑟住在他的埃及主人家中，耶和华与他同在，使他凡事亨通。

上帝说：“我必与你同在，你带百姓离开埃及后，你们必在这座山上事奉我——这将是我派你去的证据。”

去吧！我必赐给你口才，指示你说什么话。”

摩西对岳父说：“他们是来求问上帝的，

“你们和敌人交战时，面对比你们强大的军队及战车战马，不要害怕，因为你们的上帝耶和华与你们同在，祂曾带领你们离开埃及。

教导他们遵守我吩咐你们的一切。记住，我必常与你们同在，一直到世界的末了。”

教导智者，他就更有智慧；指教义人，他就更有见识。

于是，摩西接纳了岳父的建议，依言而行，

我再次吩咐你，要刚强勇敢！不要害怕，也不要灰心，因为你无论走到哪里，你的上帝耶和华必与你同在。”

他要替你向百姓说话，做你的发言人，你对他来说就像上帝一样。

婢女想，我主我王的话必能安慰我，因为我主我王就像上帝的天使一样能明辨是非。愿王的上帝耶和华常与王同在！”
