When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said,“ What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!”

The king of Egypt was told that the people had escaped. Then Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them. They said,“ What have we done? We’ve let the people of Israel go! We’ve lost our slaves and all the work they used to do for us!”

When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said,“ What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?”

When word reached the king of Egypt that the Israelites had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds.“ What have we done, letting all those Israelite slaves get away?” they asked.

使敵人的心轉去恨他的百姓，並用詭計待他的僕人。

倘若他們因認識主－救主耶穌基督，得以脫離世上的污穢，後來又在其中被纏住、制伏，他們末後的景況就比先前更不好了。他們曉得義路，竟背棄了傳給他們的聖命，倒不如不曉得為妙。俗語說得真不錯：狗所吐的，牠轉過來又吃；豬洗淨了又回到泥裏去滾；這話在他們身上正合式。

「污鬼離了人身，就在無水之地過來過去，尋求安歇之處；既尋不着，便說：『我要回到我所出來的屋裏去。』到了，就看見裏面打掃乾淨，修飾好了，便去另帶了七個比自己更惡的鬼來，都進去住在那裏。那人末後的景況比先前更不好了。」

所有立約的首領和眾民就任他的僕人婢女自由出去，誰也不再叫他們作奴僕。大家都順從，將他們釋放了；後來卻又反悔，叫所任去自由的僕人婢女回來，勉強他們仍為僕婢。因此耶和華的話臨到耶利米說：「耶和華－以色列的神如此說：我將你們的列祖從埃及地為奴之家領出來的時候，與他們立約說：『你的一個希伯來弟兄若賣給你，服事你六年，到第七年你們各人就要任他自由出去。』只是你們列祖不聽從我，也不側耳而聽。如今你們回轉，行我眼中看為正的事，各人向鄰舍宣告自由，並且在稱為我名下的殿中、在我面前立約。你們卻又反悔，褻瀆我的名，各人叫所任去隨意自由的僕人婢女回來，勉強他們仍為僕婢。所以耶和華如此說：你們沒有聽從我，各人向弟兄鄰舍宣告自由。看哪！我向你們宣告一樣自由，就是使你們自由於刀劍、饑荒、瘟疫之下，並且使你們在天下萬國中拋來拋去。這是耶和華說的。

埃及人催促百姓，打發他們快快出離那地，因為埃及人說：「我們都要死了。」
