When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said,“ What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!”

The king of Egypt was told that the people had escaped. Then Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them. They said,“ What have we done? We’ve let the people of Israel go! We’ve lost our slaves and all the work they used to do for us!”

When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said,“ What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?”

When word reached the king of Egypt that the Israelites had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds.“ What have we done, letting all those Israelite slaves get away?” they asked.

他改變敵人的心去憎恨他的子民，用詭詐待他的眾僕人。

如果他們因為認識我們的主、救主耶穌基督，可以脫離世上的污穢，後來又在其中被纏住、受制伏，他們末了的景況，就比先前的更不好了。既然認識了義路，竟又背棄傳給他們的聖誡命，對他們來說，倒不如不認識好得多了。他們的情形，正像俗語所說的：“狗轉過來，又吃自己所吐的；豬洗淨了，又到污泥中去打滾。”

“一個污靈離開了一個人，走遍乾旱之地，尋找棲身的地方，卻沒有找到，就說：‘我要回到我從前離開了的那房子。’到了之後，看見裡面已經打掃乾淨，粉飾好了，他就去帶了另外七個比自己更惡的污靈來，進去住在那裡；那人後來的情況，比以前更壞了。”

所有立了約的領袖和眾民都同意釋放各人自己的奴婢，誰也不再使他們作奴僕。他們都同意了，並且把奴婢釋放了。但後來他們反悔，把他們釋放了的奴婢叫回來，強迫他們再作奴婢。於是耶和華有話臨到耶利米，說：“耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘我把你們的列祖從埃及地為奴之家領出來的那日子，就和他們立了約，說：“一個希伯來兄弟賣了身給你，服事了你六年，到第七年，你們各人就應釋放他，容他自由離去。”但你們的列祖不聽從我，毫不在意。現今你們悔改，行我眼中看為正的事，各人向自己的同胞宣告自由，並且在稱為我名下的殿中，在我面前立了約。你們卻又反悔，褻瀆我的名；各人把得了釋放隨意離去的奴婢叫回來，強迫他們再作奴婢。’“所以，耶和華這樣說：‘你們各人沒有聽從我，向兄弟、同胞宣告自由；看哪！我現在向你們宣告自由，容讓你們遭受刀劍、瘟疫和饑荒，使你們成為地上萬國所驚懼的。’這是耶和華的宣告。

埃及人催促以色列人，要他們趕快離開此地，因為他們說：“我們都要死了。”
