當逾越節的時候、耶穌在耶路撒冷過節；節期之中，有許多見他所行的神迹，便信了他的名。耶穌自己呢、卻不將自己信託他們，因他深知萬人，又因為他不需要甚麼人給人作見證；他自己深知在人裏面的是甚麼。

那些在磐石上的、是人聽了道、就歡歡喜喜地接受；這些沒有根，是暫時相信的；在受試煉時就背棄了。

耶穌說了這些話，就有許多人信他。於是耶穌對已經信他的猶太人說：『你們若持守着我的道，就真是我的門徒了；你們必認識真理，真理就必使你們得自主。』

永恆主對摩西說：『看吧，我要在密雲中來找你，好叫人民在我和你說話的時候可以聽見，他們也可以永遠信你。』於是摩西將人民的話告訴永恆主。

因懼怕你、我肉身的毫毛都倒豎起來；你的判語我很畏懼。

第二天早晨、眾人清早起來，出發往提哥亞的曠野；他們出去的時候，約沙法站着說：『猶大人和耶路撒冷居民哪，你們要聽我的話：信靠永恆主你們的上帝，你們就一定牢靠；信靠他的神言人，你們就一定成功。』

那時他們才信了他的話，歌唱了他可頌可讚的事。但他們很快就忘了他的作為，不等候着他的意旨，

人民就相信；他們聽見永恆主眷顧以色列人，看見他們的困苦，就俯伏敬拜。

於是撒母耳呼求永恆主，永恆主就在那一天打雷下雨；眾民便非常敬畏永恆主和撒母耳。

西門自己也信了；既受了洗，就常和腓利在一起；他看見所行的神迹和大異能，就驚奇。
