At midnight the Lord struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well.

At midnight the Lord struck down every oldest son in Egypt. He killed the oldest son of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne. He killed all the oldest sons of prisoners. He also killed all the male animals born first to their mothers among the livestock.

故我諭爾、宜釋吾子、俾其崇事於我、而爾不欲釋之、我必殺爾冢子、

誅諸長子於埃及、戮其首生於含幕兮、

戮埃及之首生、或人或畜兮、

擊埃及之長子、以其慈惠永存兮、

擊其國中長子、壯時所首生兮、

摩西謂法老曰、耶和華云、約至中夜、我將巡行埃及、自居位之法老、迄旋磨之婢女、凡其長子、及羣畜首生者、必皆死亡、

以色列族諸首生者、或人或畜、咸為我有、我戮埃及首生者時、區別之以歸我、

時埃及人喪其長子、為耶和華所擊者、彼之諸神、耶和華亦譴之、

是夜我將巡行埃及、擊其長子、與羣畜首生者、而罰埃及諸神、我乃耶和華、

中夜俄頃之間、彼眾死亡、庶民被震而逝、強者見逐、非假人手、

法老頑梗、不釋我往、耶和華將埃及之首生者、或人或畜、盡皆誅戮、故我以首生之牡畜祭之、其初胎之男子、則贖之焉、

蓋首生者、悉屬於我、昔在埃及戮其首生者時、我取以色列族之首生者、或人或畜、區別為聖、以歸於我、我乃耶和華也、○

若爾、因爾盟約之血、我將釋爾俘囚、出於眢井、

屈身之俘、得釋必速、免死於阱、其糧不絕、

以信而設逾越節、及灑血禮、免滅長子者及於民、

蓋爾詳知主之日至、如夜間之盜、人方謂平康安固、滅亡突及之、如產難之及妊婦、而莫之避也、

彼眾遂執耶利米、囚於王子瑪基雅之井、在護軍院內、以繩縋之下、井無水而有泥、耶利米乃陷於泥中、

翌日、耶和華果行之、埃及之羣畜盡斃、而以色列族之羣畜、無一斃者、

咸被拘集、如囚聚於囹圄、禁於監獄、歷日既久、則必受罰、

諸長子會咸集、即名錄於天者、暨鞫眾之上帝、並義人得完全之靈、

眾以繩曳之出井、耶利米則居於護軍之院、○
