因着信，他設立逾越節，在門上灑血，免得那毀滅者加害以色列人的長子。

因為耶和華要走遍埃及，施行擊殺，他看見血在門楣上和兩邊的門框上，耶和華就必逾越那門，不讓滅命者進你們的家，施行擊殺。

你們要割去肉體的包皮，這是我與你們立約的記號。

現在我既然恩待你們，求你們指着耶和華向我起誓，你們也要恩待我的父家。請你們給我一個確實的憑據，

等候他兒子從天降臨，就是上帝使他從死人中復活的那位救我們脫離將來憤怒的耶穌。
