耶和华使他的子民生育众多，使他们比他们的敌人更强盛。

我们知道，为了爱神的人，就是按他旨意蒙召的人的益处，万事都一同效力。

因为使徒教训群众，并且传扬耶稣从死人中复活，他们就非常恼怒，于是下手拿住使徒。那时天已经晚了，就把他们拘留到第二天。然而有许多听道的人信了，男人的数目，约有五千。

他对自己的人民说：“看哪，以色列民比我们众多强盛。

因为主所爱的，他必管教，他又鞭打所收纳的每一个儿子。”为了接受管教，你们要忍受，因为神待你们好像待儿子一样；哪有儿子不受父亲管教的呢？作儿子的都受过管教。如果你们没有受管教，就是私生子，不是儿子了。还有，肉身的父亲管教我们，我们尚且敬重他们；何况那万灵的父，我们不是更要顺服他而得生吗？肉身的父亲照着自己的意思管教我们，只有短暂的日子；唯有神管教我们，是为着我们的好处，使我们在他的圣洁上有分。但是一切管教，在当时似乎不觉得快乐，反觉得痛苦；后来却为那些经过这种操练的人，结出平安的果子来，就是义。

“我们严厉地吩咐过你们，不准再奉这名教导。看，你们却把你们的道理传遍了耶路撒冷，想要把流这人的血的责任推到我们身上。”彼得和众使徒回答：“服从神过于服从人，是应当的。你们挂在木头上亲手杀害的耶稣，我们祖先的神已经使他复活了。神把他高举在自己的右边，作元首作救主，把悔改的心赐给了以色列人，使他们罪得赦免。我们为这些事作证，神赐给顺从的人的圣灵也为这些事作证。”公议会的人听了，非常恼怒，就想要杀他们。

于是法利赛人彼此说：“你们看，你们都是徒劳无功，世人都去跟随他了！”

任何智慧、聪明、谋略都不能敌挡耶和华。

烦恼杀死愚昧人，激情害死愚蒙人。

烈怒虽然凶残，暴怒又好像狂澜，人还可以忍受；但面对嫉妒，谁能站立得住呢？
