其事為王所知、王則頒詔、使哈曼謀害猶大人之惡計、歸於其首、父子俱懸於木、

惟后覲王、蒙王頒詔、以欲害猶大人之事、歸於哈曼、父子俱懸於木。

惟后至王前哀告、王降詔以哈曼謀害猶大人之惡、歸於其首、又命將哈曼及其眾子懸於木、

But when the plot came to the king’s attention, he issued written orders that the evil scheme Haman had devised against the Jews should come back onto his own head, and that he and his sons should be impaled on poles.

But the king had found out about Haman’s evil plan. So the king had sent out written orders. He had ordered that Haman’s evil plan against the Jews should happen to him instead. The king also commanded that poles be stuck through the dead bodies of Haman and his sons. Then they should be set up where everyone could see them.

But when it came before the king, he gave orders in writing that his evil plan that he had devised against the Jews should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

But when Esther came before the king, he issued a decree causing Haman’s evil plot to backfire, and Haman and his sons were impaled on a sharpened pole.

But when the matter was brought before the king, he commanded by letter that the evil plan Haman had devised against the Jews return on his own head and that he should be hanged with his sons on the gallows.

以斯帖說：「王若以為好，求你允准書珊的猶太人，明日也照今日的諭旨去做，並把哈曼十個兒子的屍體掛在木架上。」王允准這麼做。敕令傳遍書珊，哈曼十個兒子的屍體被掛了起來。

誰跌在這石頭上，一定會跌得粉碎；這石頭掉在誰的身上，就要把誰壓得稀爛。」

至於那些昂首圍困我的人，願他們嘴唇的奸惡陷害自己！

他愛咒罵，咒罵就臨到他；他不喜愛祝福，祝福就遠離他！他拿咒罵當衣服穿上；這咒罵就如水進到他裏面，如油進入他骨頭。

願惡人落在自己的網中，我卻得以逃脫。

亞哈隨魯王問以斯帖王后說：「擅敢起意如此行的是誰？這人在哪裏呢？」以斯帖說：「仇人敵人就是這惡人哈曼！」哈曼在王和王后面前非常驚惶。王大怒，起來離開酒席往御花園去了。哈曼見王定意要加罪於他，就留下來求以斯帖王后救他的命。王從御花園回到酒席廳，見哈曼伏在以斯帖所靠的榻上；王說：「他竟敢在宮內、在我面前凌辱王后嗎？」這話一出王口，哈曼的臉就被蒙住了。有一個伺候王名叫哈波拿的太監說：「看哪，哈曼還為那報告給王、救王有功的末底改做了一個五十肘高的木架，現今立在哈曼的家裏。」王說：「把哈曼掛在木架上。」於是哈曼被掛在他為末底改所預備的木架上；王的憤怒才平息了。那日，亞哈隨魯王把猶太人的仇敵哈曼的家產賜給以斯帖王后。末底改也來到王面前，因為以斯帖已經告訴王，末底改跟她是甚麼關係。王摘下自己的戒指，就是從哈曼取回的，給了末底改。以斯帖派末底改管理哈曼的家產。以斯帖又在王面前求情，俯伏在他腳前，流淚哀求他阻止亞甲人哈曼害猶太人的惡謀。王向以斯帖伸出金杖，以斯帖就起來，站在王面前，說：「王若以為好，我若在王面前蒙恩，王若認為合宜，我若在王眼前得喜悅，請王下諭旨，廢除亞甲人哈米大他的兒子哈曼設謀，要殺滅王各省的猶太人所頒的詔書。我何忍見我本族的人受害？何忍見我同宗的人被滅呢？」亞哈隨魯王對以斯帖王后和猶太人末底改說：「因為哈曼要下手害猶太人，看哪，我已把他的家產賜給以斯帖，也把哈曼掛在木架上了。你們可以照你們看為好的，奉王的名寫諭旨給猶太人，用王的戒指蓋印；因為奉王的名所寫、用王的戒指蓋印的諭旨是不能廢除的。」三月，就是西彎月二十三日，當時王的一些書記受召而來，按着末底改所吩咐的，用各省的文字、各族的語言，以及猶太人的文字語言寫諭旨，傳給那從印度直到古實一百二十七省的猶太人，以及總督、省長和領袖。末底改奉亞哈隨魯王的名寫諭旨，用王的戒指蓋印，交給信差們騎上御用的王室快馬去頒佈。王准各城各鎮的猶太人在一日之內，在十二月，就是亞達月的十三日聚集，在亞哈隨魯王的各省保護自己的性命，剪除，殺戮，滅絕那要攻擊猶太人的各省各族所有的軍隊，以及他們的妻子兒女，奪取他們的財產為掠物。
