在詔書中，王允許各個城市的猶太人，在亞哈隨魯王各省中，在十二月（亞達月）十三日，一天之內，聚集起來，保護自己的性命，除滅、擊殺、消滅所有攻擊猶太人的各族各省的武裝力量，甚至他們的孩童和婦女，並且掠奪他們的財物。

哈曼向他們講述了他的富貴榮華、他兒女的眾多，以及王怎樣高抬他、提拔他高過首領們和王的臣僕們的一切事。

任何屬於你的東西，就是一根線、一根鞋帶，我也絕不會拿，以免你說：『是我使亞伯蘭富有。』

最後，弟兄們，凡是真實的、莊重的、公義的、純潔的、可羨慕的、高尚的，如果有什麼美德，如果有什麼可稱讚的，這些事你們就當思想；

亞達月十四日，蘇薩的猶太人又聚集起來，在蘇薩擊殺了三百人，但沒有下手掠奪財物。至於王各省中的其餘猶太人，他們也都聚集起來，保護自己的性命，擺脫他們的仇敵，擊殺了七萬五千個恨他們的人，但沒有下手掠奪財物；

以斯帖說：「那敵人、那仇敵，就是這惡人哈曼！」哈曼就在王和王后面前驚惶失措。

願無人向他伸出慈愛的手，無人恩待他的孤兒。願他的後代被剪除，他們的名號在下一代被抹掉。

因為我和我的民族已經被賣了，要被除滅、擊殺、消滅。假如我們只是被賣為奴僕和婢女，我會保持沉默，因為那樣的患難不值得打擾王。」

不要對任何人以惡報惡；要敬重所有的人看為美善的事；

你從地上消滅他們的後代，從世人中消滅他們的後裔。

這些事以後，亞哈隨魯王高抬亞甲人哈米達塔的兒子哈曼；王提拔他，使他的地位高過所有與他一起的首領。
