The king’s edict granted the Jews in every city the right to assemble and protect themselves; to destroy, kill and annihilate the armed men of any nationality or province who might attack them and their women and children, and to plunder the property of their enemies.

The Jews in every city could now gather together and fight for their lives. The king’s order gave them that right. But suppose soldiers from any nation or territory attacked them, their women or children. Then the Jews could destroy, kill and wipe out those soldiers. They could also take the goods that belonged to their enemies.

The king’s decree gave the Jews in every city authority to unite to defend their lives. They were allowed to kill, slaughter, and annihilate anyone of any nationality or province who might attack them or their children and wives, and to take the property of their enemies.

谕旨由信差送到王的各省，限令在一天之内，即十二月，也就是亚达月十三日，把犹太人的男女老少全部铲除、杀光、灭尽，并夺取他们的财物。

他们不必到田间拾柴，或到林中伐木，因为有兵器当燃料。他们要抢夺那些抢夺过他们的人，掳掠那些掳掠过他们的人。这是主耶和华说的。

恶人拔剑张弓要消灭穷苦人，杀戮正直人，但他们的剑必刺穿自己的心，他们的弓必被折断。

犹太人在亚哈随鲁王的各省各城聚集起来，攻击那些要害他们的人，无人能抵挡他们，因为各族都惧怕他们。各省的官员、总督、省长和为王办事的人因惧怕末底改，就都帮助犹太人。因为末底改已是王宫要员，他的名声传遍各省，权势日盛。犹太人用刀击杀所有敌人，任意消灭恨他们的人。犹太人单在书珊城就杀了五百人。他们还杀了巴珊大他、达分、亚斯帕他、坡拉他、亚大利雅、亚利大他、帕玛斯他、亚利赛、亚利代和瓦耶撒他。这十人是犹太人的仇敌哈曼的儿子、哈米大他的孙子。但犹太人没有动他们的财物。当天，王获悉在书珊城被杀的人数，便对以斯帖王后说：“犹太人在书珊城杀了五百人，还杀了哈曼的十个儿子，在其余各省就更不知怎样了！现在你要什么？必赐给你。你还有何要求？必为你成就。”以斯帖回答说：“王若愿意，就请恩准书珊城的犹太人明天仍执行今天的谕旨，并把哈曼十个儿子的尸体吊在木架上。”王允准了，便在书珊城颁布谕旨，哈曼十个儿子的尸体便被吊了起来。亚达月十四日，书珊城的犹太人再次聚集起来，在城中杀了三百人，但没有动他们的财物。王其他各省的犹太人也都聚集起来自卫，得以脱离仇敌。他们杀了七万五千个仇敌，但没有动他们的财物。

巴比伦城啊，你快要灭亡了，那向你以牙还牙为我们复仇的人有福了！

耶和华创造了天、地、海和其中的万物，祂永远信实可靠。祂为受压制的人申冤，赐食物给饥饿的人，使被囚者得自由。耶和华叫瞎子看见，扶持被重担所压的人，祂喜爱义人。耶和华保护寄居异地的人，看顾孤儿寡妇，祂挫败恶人的阴谋诡计。

我要差遣他去攻打一个不虔敬的国家，一个惹我发怒的民族，去抢夺、掳掠他们的财物，像践踏街上的泥土一样践踏他们。

愿义人在上帝面前欢欣快乐，愿他们高兴欢喜。
