If the king regards me with favor and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and fulfill my request, let the king and Haman come tomorrow to the banquet I will prepare for them. Then I will answer the king’s question.”

I hope you will be pleased to give me what I want. And I hope you will be pleased to listen to my appeal. If you are, I’d like you and Haman to come tomorrow to the feast I’ll prepare for you. Then I’ll answer your question.”

If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my wish and fulfill my request, let the king and Haman come to the feast that I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will do as the king has said.”

王后以斯帖回应说：“王啊，如果我在你眼前蒙恩，如果王认为好，就请王把我的性命赐予我，作为回应我的请求；也请王把我的民族赐予我，作为回应我所求的；

人的心计划自己的道路，但耶和华坚定他的脚步。

那天夜里，王睡不着觉，就吩咐人把《编年史》的记录带来，在王面前诵读；读的时候，发现其中记着：末迪凯告发了两个守门的王室太监彼革坦和提列，他们图谋对亚哈随鲁王下手。王就问：“为这事，赐予了末迪凯什么尊荣或地位吗？”事奉王的仆人们回答：“什么也没有赐予他。”王问：“谁在院子里？”那时哈曼正来到王宫的外院，为要向王提说把末迪凯挂在他为末迪凯所预备的木架上。王的仆人们对王说：“看哪，哈曼站在院子里！”王就说：“让他进来。”哈曼进来了，王问他：“王愿意赐予尊荣的人，应该怎么对待他呢？”哈曼心里说：“王愿意赐予尊荣的人，除我以外，还会有谁呢？”哈曼就对王说：“王愿意赐予尊荣的人，应该让人把王所穿的王袍和王所骑的马，就是头戴御冠的马带来，把衣袍和马交在王的一个贵族首领的手中，给王愿意赐予尊荣的人穿上衣袍，使他骑上马，然后领他走遍城市广场，并在他前面宣告：‘王愿意赐予尊荣的人，就要这样对待他！’”于是王对哈曼说：“赶快！把衣袍和马带来，照着你所说的那样对待坐在御门那里的犹太人末迪凯；凡你所说的，一样也不可缺少。”哈曼就把衣袍和马带来，给末迪凯穿上衣袍，使他骑上马，然后领他走遍城市广场，并在他前面宣告：“王愿意赐予尊荣的人，就要这样对待他！”末迪凯回到御门那里；哈曼却心中悲哀，蒙着头急促回到家。哈曼向他的妻子细利斯和他所有的朋友讲述了自己所遇到的一切事。他的那些智慧人和他的妻子细利斯就对他说：“你在末迪凯面前开始落败了；既然他是犹太人的后裔，你就胜不过他，在他面前必定落败！”他们还在与哈曼说话的时候，王室的太监们到了，催哈曼赶快去赴以斯帖摆设的宴席。

她说：“如果王认为好，如果我在王面前蒙恩，如果这事在王面前合宜，如果我在王眼前蒙喜悦，就请王下旨撤回亚甲人哈米达塔的儿子哈曼所谋设的诏书，就是他写下要消灭王各省中犹太人的那诏书。
