His wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him,“ Have a pole set up, reaching to a height of fifty cubits, and ask the king in the morning to have Mordecai impaled on it. Then go with the king to the banquet and enjoy yourself.” This suggestion delighted Haman, and he had the pole set up.

Haman’s wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him,“ Get a pole. In the morning, ask the king to have Mordecai put to death. Have the pole stuck through his body. Set it up at a place where it will be 75 feet above the ground. Everyone will be able to see it there. Then go to the feast with the king. Have a good time.” Haman was delighted with that suggestion. So he got the pole ready.

Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him,“ Let a gallows fifty cubits high be made, and in the morning tell the king to have Mordecai hanged upon it. Then go joyfully with the king to the feast.” This idea pleased Haman, and he had the gallows made.

So Haman’s wife, Zeresh, and all his friends suggested,“ Set up a sharpened pole that stands seventy five feet tall, and in the morning ask the king to impale Mordecai on it. When this is done, you can go on your merry way to the banquet with the king.” This pleased Haman, and he ordered the pole set up.

His wife Zeresh and all his friends told him,“ Have them build a gallows seventy-five feet tall. Ask the king in the morning to hang Mordecai on it. Then go to the banquet with the king and enjoy yourself.” The advice pleased Haman, so he had the gallows constructed.

Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him,“ Have a wooden gallows fifty cubits high made, and in the morning ask the king to have Mordecai hanged on it; then go joyfully with the king to the banquet.” And the advice pleased Haman, so he had the wooden gallows made.

Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him,“ Let a gallows be made, fifty cubits high, and in the morning suggest to the king that Mordecai be hanged on it; then go merrily with the king to the banquet.” And the thing pleased Haman; so he had the gallows made.

王问：“谁在院子里？”那时哈曼正来到王宫的外院，为要向王提说把末迪凯挂在他为末迪凯所预备的木架上。

恶人已经拔出刀剑，拉开了弓，要使困苦人和贫穷人倒下，要杀戮行为正直的人。

恶人窥伺义人，寻机置他于死地；

那时，在王面前的一个太监哈波纳说：“看哪，哈曼为那报信救王的末迪凯做了一个木架，立在哈曼家里，高五十肘！”王就说：“把哈曼挂在上面！”于是人就把哈曼挂在他为末迪凯所预备的木架上。王的怒火这才平息了。

他预备了致命的武器，做好了燃烧的箭矢。看哪，恶人孕育坏事，怀上祸患，生下虚假。他挖了坑，挖得很深，自己却掉进所挖的深坑里。他的祸患将归到自己的头上，他的残暴将落在自己的头顶。

住在地上的人都因他们的死而欢喜、庆祝，并且要彼此送礼，因为这两位先知曾使住在地上的人受痛苦。

那时候，加略人犹大，就是十二使徒中的一个，到祭司长们那里去，要把耶稣交给他们。他们听了就欢喜，并且许诺给他银钱。于是犹大就图谋怎样找机会把耶稣交出去。

他们来到祭司长们和长老们那里，说：“我们已经赌咒起誓，杀掉保罗以前，就什么都不吃。所以你们和议会现在就要告诉千夫长，把保罗带到你们这里来，假装要更详尽地审查他的事；我们预备好了，要在他到达以前就杀了他。”

要知道，这些人如果不作恶就睡不着觉，不绊倒人就睡卧不安；

所以希罗迪娅对约翰怀恨在心，想要杀他，只是不能。这是因为希律敬畏约翰，知道他是义人，是圣人，所以保护着他。希律听约翰讲说的时候，虽然心里十分困惑，还是乐意听他的。可是时机来了。希律在自己生日那天预备宴席，招待他的大臣和军官们，以及加利利的首领们。希罗迪娅的女儿进来跳舞，使希律和一同坐席的人都非常喜悦。王就对女孩说：“你无论想要什么，向我求，我就会给你。”并且对她郑重地起誓：“你无论向我求什么，即使是我国家的一半，我也会给你！”于是女孩出去问她母亲说：“我应该要什么呢？”她母亲说：“要施洗者约翰的头！”

人虽然知道神的公义规定是：行这样事的人是该死的；然而他们不仅自己去做，还赞同做这些事的人。

列国陷入自己所挖的深坑里，他们的脚被自己暗设的网罗缠住。

他们埋伏，是在流自己的血；他们设伏，是在害自己的性命。

他们的脚步为杀人流血而飞快，

哈曼对亚哈随鲁王说：“有一个民族被打散，分散在你全国各省各民族之间；他们的法令与其他所有民族的都不相同，他们也不遵行王的法令，所以留下他们对王无益。如果王认为好，就请王下旨消灭他们；我将捐出一万他连得银子，交在管理国务的人手中，归入国库。”于是王从自己手上取下印戒，交给亚甲人哈米达塔的儿子哈曼——犹太人的敌人。王对哈曼说：“那银子归于你，这民族也归于你；你看怎样好，就怎样处置他们吧！”一月十三日，王的书记们被召来，照着哈曼所吩咐的一切，给王的行政官们、管理各省的省长和各民族的首领下旨，用各省的文字给各个省，用各民族的语言给各个民族，以亚哈随鲁王的名义下旨，又用王的印戒封印。诏书藉着信使们的手传送给王的各省：要各省在十二月（亚达月）十三日，一天之内，把所有的犹太人，无论老少、孩童或妇女，都除灭、击杀、消灭，并且掠夺他们的财物。这文书的副本以法令的形式在各个省颁布，通告各民族，让他们为这一天做好准备。信使们被王令催促就出发，而这法令也在苏萨城堡颁布了。那时王与哈曼坐着喝酒，苏萨城却陷入混乱。
