約百坐於灰、以片瓦搔身。

惟爾人子、歔欷太息、至於斷腸、令人目睹。

希實本以利亞利、二邑、大聲號泣、遍聞於雅哈斯、摩押之武士號呼、其心悚懼、

二使徒聞之、裂衣、躍入眾中、

詔至各州、猶大人禁食哀哭、衣麻蒙灰甚眾。

故我自憾、坐於塗炭、旋有悔心。○

哈曼奏王曰、有一族之民、散處天下州邑、異律是從、不遵王命、容之無益。如王以臣言為然、可頒明詔、翦滅斯族、我當以金一千五百萬、輸於國帑、以補賦稅。夫哈曼猶大人之仇者也、王乃以指環賜之、曰、余不納爾金、惟爾所欲為。正月十三日、王召繕寫、從哈曼所欲書之、詔依各州方言文字、鈐以國璽、普告臣工、方伯、民長、遣郵頒詔各州使於十二月、即亞達月、十三日、殺戮猶大人、取其貨財、凡旄倪妻子、毋俾遺種。

爾禁食之時、卑以自牧、屈抑若蘆、身衣麻布、坐於塗炭、我耶和華豈悅此乎。
