“哥拉汛哪，你有祸了！伯赛大啊，你有祸了！因为在你们中间所行的异能若行在推罗、西顿，他们早已披麻蒙灰悔改了。

因此我说：“不要看我，让我痛哭吧！不要因我百姓的毁灭竭力安慰我。”

为此我要大声哀号，赤身赤脚行走；我要呼号如野狗，哀鸣如鸵鸟。

耶和华的大日临近，临近而且甚快；那是耶和华日子的风声，勇士必在那里痛痛地哭号。

约书亚和以色列的长老就撕裂衣服，在耶和华的约柜前脸伏于地，直到晚上。他们把灰撒在头上。

哈曼对亚哈随鲁王说：“有一民族散居在王国各省的民族中，与众不同；他们的律例与万民的律例不同，也不守王的律例，所以容留他们对王无益。王若以为好，请下谕旨灭绝他们，我就捐一万他连得银子交给管财政的人，纳入王的府库。”于是王从自己手上摘下戒指给犹太人的仇敌，亚甲人哈米大他的儿子哈曼。王对哈曼说：“这银子赐给你，这民族也交给你，可以照你眼中看为好的待他们。”正月十三日，王的一些书记受召而来，照着哈曼一切所吩咐的，用各省的文字、各族的语言，奉亚哈随鲁王的名写谕旨，又用王的戒指盖印，传给王的总督、各省的省长，以及各族的领袖。诏书由信差传到王的各省，限令一日之内，就是在十二月，亚达月十三日，把所有的犹太人，无论老少妇女孩子，全然剪除，杀戮灭绝，并抢夺他们的财产。

这岂是我所要的禁食，为人所用以刻苦己心的日子吗？我难道只是叫人如芦苇般低头，铺上麻布和灰烬吗？你能称此为禁食，为耶和华所悦纳的日子吗？
