前往哀悼之家好過前往宴樂之家，因為死亡是所有人的終局，活著的人必將這事放在心上。憂煩好過歡笑，因為面帶愁容，心也能喜樂。智慧人的心在哀悼之家，愚昧人的心在歡樂之家。

不要醉酒，醉酒帶來放蕩，而要被聖靈充滿：用詩篇、聖詩、屬靈的詩歌彼此對說，從你們的心裡，歌頌讚美主；

約瑟把自己面前的食物分給他們，但便雅憫分到的是其他人的五倍。他們與約瑟一同宴樂暢飲。

婭比蓋回到納巴爾那裡，看哪，他在家裡擺設宴席，像王的宴席一樣。納巴爾心情好，醉得很厲害，所以婭比蓋無論大事小事都沒有告訴他，直到早晨天亮。到了早晨，納巴爾酒醒後，他的妻子把這些事告訴他，他就失去了意識，身體變得硬如石頭。

尼布甲尼撒王吩咐他的太監長亞施培納，從以色列子孫中，帶來一些王室後裔和貴族中的年輕人——他們沒有任何殘疾，樣貌美好，在各樣的智慧上明達，明白知識，在學識上有悟性，有能力在王宮中侍立；王又吩咐太監長教導他們迦勒底人的文學和語言。王從自己的美食和所飲用的酒中，給他們指定了每天的份額，要他們受教養三年；三年結束後，他們將在王面前侍立。
