to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

He gave all these people so that they might prepare God’s people to serve. Then the body of Christ will be built up.

Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

From him the whole body grows, fitted and held together through every supporting ligament. As each one does its part, the body grows in love.

The one who speaks in a tongue builds himself up, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.I wish you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets so that the church may be strengthened.

But I myself am fully convinced about you, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to instruct one another.

What should you do then, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each one has a song, has a lesson, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all these things be done for the strengthening of the church.

but I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. When you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

It is the same with you. Since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, seek to abound in order to strengthen the church.

Therefore we must progress beyond the elementary instructions about Christ and move on to maturity, not laying this foundation again: repentance from dead works and faith in God,

And all these things are from God who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and who has given us the ministry of reconciliation.

They strengthened the souls of the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith, saying,“ We must enter the kingdom of God through many persecutions.”When they had appointed elders for them in the various churches, with prayer and fasting they entrusted them to the protection of the Lord in whom they had believed.

We do not give anyone an occasion for taking an offense in anything, so that no fault may be found with our ministry.

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls and will give an account for their work. Let them do this with joy and not with complaints, for this would be no advantage for you.

I am grateful to the one who has strengthened me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he considered me faithful in putting me into ministry,

Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, just as you are in fact doing.Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who labor among you and preside over you in the Lord and admonish you,and to esteem them most highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.And we urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the undisciplined, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient toward all.

So then, let us pursue what makes for peace and for building up one another.

Now the church is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

You, however, be self- controlled in all things, endure hardship, do an evangelist’s work, fulfill your ministry.

and I know that when I come to you I will come in the fullness of Christ’s blessing.

Therefore, since we have this ministry, just as God has shown us mercy, we do not become discouraged.

Not that I have already attained this– that is, I have not already been perfected– but I strive to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus also laid hold of me.Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have attained this. Instead I am single- minded: Forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead,with this goal in mind, I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.Therefore let those of us who are“ perfect” embrace this point of view. If you think otherwise, God will reveal to you the error of your ways.Nevertheless, let us live up to the standard that we have already attained.Be imitators of me, brothers and sisters, and watch carefully those who are living this way, just as you have us as an example.For many live, about whom I have often told you, and now, with tears, I tell you that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ.

To each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the benefit of all.

You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need, that it may give grace to those who hear.

One should think about us this way– as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.Now what is sought in stewards is that one be found faithful.

Have you been thinking all this time that we have been defending ourselves to you? We are speaking in Christ before God, and everything we do, dear friends, is to build you up.

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and I fill up in my physical body– for the sake of his body, the church– what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ.

And tell Archippus,“ See to it that you complete the ministry you received in the Lord.”

We proclaim him by instructing and teaching all people with all wisdom so that we may present every person mature in Christ.

Watch out for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.

Let each of us please his neighbor for his good to build him up.

for he was counted as one of us and received a share in this ministry.”

For we rejoice whenever we are weak, but you are strong. And we pray for this: that you may become fully qualified.

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that could defile the body and the spirit, and thus accomplish holiness out of reverence for God.

If I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unproductive.

And since I am sure of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for the sake of your progress and joy in the faith,so that what you can be proud of may increase because of me in Christ Jesus, when I come back to you.

how much more glorious will the ministry of the Spirit be?

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you too were called to the one hope of your calling,

But I do not consider my life worth anything to myself, so that I may finish my task and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news of God’s grace.
