So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.

於是、爾曹不復為外邦異家、乃與聖徒一邦、與上帝之人一家、

如此、爾曹不復為外人、不復為客旅、乃與聖徒為一邦、為天主一家之人、

因此、爾等已不復為外人或賓旅、爾等與諸聖同為天國之公民、聖宅之家人。

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household,

So you are no longer outsiders and strangers. You are citizens together with God’s people. You are also members of God’s family.

Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone— especially to those in the family of faith.

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.

All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth.

No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering.You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect.You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.

For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

And this is God’s plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God’s children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus.

Students are to be like their teacher, and slaves are to be like their master. And since I, the master of the household, have been called the prince of demons, the members of my household will be called by even worse names!

The city wall was broad and high, with twelve gates guarded by twelve angels. And the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were written on the gates.There were three gates on each side— east, north, south, and west.The wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were written the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.The angel who talked to me held in his hand a gold measuring stick to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.When he measured it, he found it was a square, as wide as it was long. In fact, its length and width and height were each 1,400 miles.Then he measured the walls and found them to be 216 feet thick( according to the human standard used by the angel).The wall was made of jasper, and the city was pure gold, as clear as glass.The wall of the city was built on foundation stones inlaid with twelve precious stones: the first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.The twelve gates were made of pearls— each gate from a single pearl! And the main street was pure gold, as clear as glass.I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light.The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory.Its gates will never be closed at the end of day because there is no night there.And all the nations will bring their glory and honor into the city.

In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope.

But the other woman, Sarah, represents the heavenly Jerusalem. She is the free woman, and she is our mother.As Isaiah said,“ Rejoice, O childless woman, you who have never given birth! Break into a joyful shout, you who have never been in labor! For the desolate woman now has more children than the woman who lives with her husband!”And you, dear brothers and sisters, are children of the promise, just like Isaac.But you are now being persecuted by those who want you to keep the law, just as Ishmael, the child born by human effort, persecuted Isaac, the child born by the power of the Spirit.But what do the Scriptures say about that?“ Get rid of the slave and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not share the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”So, dear brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman; we are children of the free woman.
