Then I said:“ Wisdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, And his words are not heard.

我就说，智慧胜过勇力；然而那贫穷人的智慧被人藐视，他的话也无人听从。

我就說，智慧勝過勇力；然而那貧窮人的智慧被人藐視，他的話也無人聽從。

我則曰、智愈於力、然貧者之智、為人蔑視、言不見聽、

我竊思之、智愈於力、貧者之智、為人藐忽、不從其言。

我自言曰、智慧雖愈於勇力、貧者之智慧仍被人藐忽、不聽其言、

So I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength.” But the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.

So I said,“ It’s better to be wise than to be powerful.” But people look down on the poor man’s wisdom. No one pays any attention to what he says.

But I say that wisdom is better than might, though the poor man’s wisdom is despised and his words are not heard.

So even though wisdom is better than strength, those who are wise will be despised if they are poor. What they say will not be appreciated for long.

And I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength, but the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are not heeded.”

So I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength.” But the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are ignored.

Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

And I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength, but the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are not heeded.”

Then said I, Wisdom[ is] better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom[ is] despised, and his words are not heard.

So I concluded that wisdom is better than might, but a poor man’s wisdom is despised; no one ever listens to his advice.

Then I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength.” Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

Wisdom strengthens the wise More than ten rulers of the city.

A wise man is strong, Yes, a man of knowledge increases strength;

A wise man scales the city of the mighty, And brings down the trusted stronghold.

And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying,“ Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands!Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him.

Wisdom is better than weapons of war; But one sinner destroys much good.”

The rich man’s wealth is his strong city; The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

Then the Pharisees answered them,“ Are you also deceived?Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him?But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”

For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,that no flesh should glory in His presence.

So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him,“ Give God the glory! We know that this Man is a sinner.”He answered and said,“ Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”Then they said to him again,“ What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?”He answered them,“ I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become His disciples?”Then they reviled him and said,“ You are His disciple, but we are Moses’ disciples.We know that God spoke to Moses; as for this fellow, we do not know where He is from.”The man answered and said to them,“ Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes!Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind.If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.”They answered and said to him,“ You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?” And they cast him out.

For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes,and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him,“ You sit here in a good place,” and say to the poor man,“ You stand there,” or,“ Sit here at my footstool,”have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?But you have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts?
