As no one has power over the wind to contain it, so no one has power over the time of their death. As no one is discharged in time of war, so wickedness will not release those who practice it.

No one can stop the wind from blowing. And no one has the power to decide when they will die. No one is let out of the army in times of war. And evil won’t let go of those who practice it.

No man has power to retain the spirit, or power over the day of death. There is no discharge from war, nor will wickedness deliver those who are given to it.

None of us can hold back our spirit from departing. None of us has the power to prevent the day of our death. There is no escaping that obligation, that dark battle. And in the face of death, wickedness will certainly not rescue the wicked.

No one has authority over the wind to restrain it, and there is no authority over the day of death; no one is discharged during battle, and wickedness will not allow those who practice it to escape.

人的日子既然被限定，他的月数亦在乎你，你也定下他的界限，使他不能越过。

因为你们曾说：“我们与死亡立了约，与阴间结了盟；刑罚的鞭子扫过的时候，必不会碰到我们，因为我们以谎言作遮蔽，以虚假作庇护。”

按着定命，人人都要死一次，死后还有审判。

恶人必因自己所行的恶事被推倒，义人死的时候仍有所倚靠。

有哪一个人能长活不死，能救自己的性命脱离阴间的权势呢？（细拉）

他因着软弱被钉死了，却靠着神的大能活着。我们在他里面也是软弱的，但靠着神向你们所显的大能，也必与他一同活着。

恶人都必归到阴间，忘记神的列国都必灭亡。

他们倚靠财富，自夸多财。但他们没有一个能把他的兄弟赎回，或把他的赎价交给神，（因为他生命的赎价非常昂贵，只好永远放弃，）使他永远活着，不见朽坏。

你实在把他们安放在滑地，使他们倒下、灭亡。他们忽然间成了多么荒凉，被突然的惊恐完全消灭。人睡醒了怎样看梦，主啊！你睡醒了，也要照样轻看他们（“他们”原文作“他们的影像”）。我心中酸苦，我肺腑刺痛的时候，我是愚昧无知的；我在你面前就像畜类一般。但是，我仍常与你同在；你紧握着我的右手。你要以你的训言引领我，以后还要接我到荣耀里去。除你以外，在天上，我还有谁呢？除你以外，在地上，我也无所爱慕。我的肉身和我的内心虽然渐渐衰弱，神却永远是我心里的磐石，是我的业分。看哪！远离你的，必定灭亡；凡是对你不贞的，你都要灭绝。对我来说，亲近神是美好的，我以主耶和华为我的避难所；我要述说你的一切作为。

所种的是卑贱的，复活的是荣耀的；所种的是软弱的，复活的是有能力的；

你们与死亡所立的约要废除，你们与阴间所结的盟必立不住；刑罚的鞭子扫过的时候，你们就必被践踏。

他若对人决心这样作，他若把灵与气收归自己，

我们都是必死的，像水泼在地上不能收回来一样；但神并不取去人的命，反而设法使逃亡的人不致永远离开他逃亡。

神必把你永远拆毁；他必把你挪去，把你从帐棚中揪出来，把你从活人之地连根拔起。（细拉）义人必看见而惧怕；他们必讥笑他，说：“看哪！这就是那不以神为自己保障的人，他只倚靠自己丰盛的财富，以毁灭别人来加强自己的力量。”

他们就去追踪亚兰军直到约旦河。看哪，沿途堆满了衣物器具，就是亚兰人在匆忙逃走时丢弃的。于是使者回去向王报告。

有谁知道人的灵是往上升，牲畜的魂（“魂”的原文与“灵”〔3:21〕和“气息”〔3:19〕相同）是下降而入地呢？”

“你出去和你的仇敌作战的时候，看见马匹、车辆和比你多的人群，你不要怕他们，因为那把你们从埃及地领上来的耶和华你的神，与你同在。你们快要上战场的时候，祭司要上前来，对人民说话，对他们说：‘以色列人哪，你们要听，你们今日快要和仇敌作战，你们不要胆怯，不要惧怕，不要惊慌，不要因他们的缘故战兢；因为耶和华你们的神和你们同去，要为你们攻打你们的仇敌，要拯救你们。’官长也要对人民宣告：‘谁建造了新房屋，还没有行过奉献礼的，他可以回家去，恐怕他死在战场上，别人去为他的房屋行奉献礼。谁栽种了葡萄园，还没有享用过它的果子的，他可以回家去，恐怕他死在战场上，别人去享用它的果子。谁与女子订了婚，还没有迎娶的，他可以回家去，恐怕他死在战场上，别人去娶了她。’官长又要对人民宣告：‘谁是惧怕、胆怯的，他可以回家去，恐怕他使他兄弟的心融化，像他的心一样。’
