天下事可為長太息者、有時義人遭難、幾同惡人、惡人蒙休、有類義人、我則曰、此屬於虛。

There is something else meaningless that occurs on earth: the righteous who get what the wicked deserve, and the wicked who get what the righteous deserve. This too, I say, is meaningless.

Here’s something else on this earth that doesn’t have any meaning. Sometimes godly people get what sinful people should receive. And sinful people get what godly people should receive. Here’s what I’m telling you. That doesn’t have any meaning either.

There is a vanity that takes place on earth, that there are righteous people to whom it happens according to the deeds of the wicked, and there are wicked people to whom it happens according to the deeds of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.

And this is not all that is meaningless in our world. In this life, good people are often treated as though they were wicked, and wicked people are often treated as though they were good. This is so meaningless!

There is a futility that is done on the earth: there are righteous people who get what the actions of the wicked deserve, and there are wicked people who get what the actions of the righteous deserve. I say that this too is futile.

There is futility which is done on the earth, that is, there are righteous people to whom it happens according to the deeds of the wicked. On the other hand, there are evil people to whom it happens according to the deeds of the righteous. I say that this too is futility.

There is a vanity which occurs on earth, that there are just men to whom it happens according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked men to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.

There is a vanity which is done upon the earth, that there are righteous men unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked men to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.

我在虛度之中、已見此諸事、又見善人雖善反夭亡、惡人雖惡反長壽、

智者凡事目明、愚者行於幽暗、然亦知智者愚者所遇、無以異也、

爾又曰、今我可稱驕傲者為福、作惡者昌盛、昌盛或作得建彼雖試天主、亦得免於患難、

因何惡人存活而享遐齡、勢強力盛、

我見驕妄人及兇惡人得享平康、我則憤懣不平、

我專心觀此諸事、究此諸事、知善人與智人及其作為、皆為天主所掌、或愛或惡、人無所能知、因諸事盡屬未來、或愛或惡人無所能知因諸事盡屬未來或作或愛或惡與諸未來之事人無所能知眾人所遇之事、皆同然無異、義人、惡人、善人、潔者、不潔者、獻祭者、不獻祭者、行善者、作惡者、發誓者、忌發誓者、所遇惟一、眾人所遇惟一、此日下萬事中最患之事、故世人心充以惡、生時心存狂妄、後則歸於死者之中、

此等惡人、永享平康、貨財無不加增、我則徒然潔淨我心、枉然洗淨我手、我終日遭難、每晨受苦、

有人獨處無子、無兄弟、然亦勞碌不已、雖得多財、目中不以為足、亦不自問曰、我不自享所得、我勞碌究為誰耶、此亦屬於虛、徒勞無益、

惡人之燈、何嘗息滅、禍患何嘗臨之、天主何嘗震怒加以困苦、彼何嘗如草芥飄於風前、何嘗如糠秕為狂風所吹、若曰、天主以惡報留於子嗣、我曰、不如報應其身、使彼自知、俾目睹禍患之至、親受全能主之震怒、既逝世、日月既盡、彼與家庭有何關係、天主治理上天、誰能教之以知識、但我見有人至死享福、平康無慮、兩脇豐腴、原文作其器滿以乳骨髓充滿、有人至死愁苦、終不享福、此二者、同偃臥於土中、為蛆蟲所蔽、爾之思念、為我所知、爾妄造讒我之兇言、我亦知之、爾言曰、強暴者之室安在、惡人所居之幕安在、爾未詢行路之人乎、不以其言為據乎、其言曰、患難之日、惡人得免、天主降災之時、惡人得脫、天主降災之時惡人得脫又作報應未及之先彼已舁至墳墓彼之惡途、誰敢面斥、彼之所為、誰能報之、眾送至墓、並有人守護其塚、在泉壤甚安逸、將從之者多、往其先者無數、或作送之之人後行者甚多前行者不可勝數彼在泉壤亦甚安逸既如是、則爾慰藉我亦徒然、爾答我之言則謬、謬或作空虛

彼虐遇未生子之婦、不善待嫠婦、逞強暴制伏豪傑、一興則人命難保、天主反賜之平康、俾有所恃、天主之目眷顧其途、或作天主雖鑒察其途仍賜之平康俾有所恃其興也、或作畢生興盛俄頃即逝、滅亡入墓、與眾無異、如成熟之穀穗被刈、爾若言不然、誰能指摘我言為謬、謬原文作誑辯駁我言為虛、

我又見日下有一大患事、乃出於秉權者之錯誤、

我若與主爭辯、主必顯為至公、雖然、我猶敢與主理論、惡人之道途亨通、奸詐之人平康、何故哉、

我觀世人勞碌經營、皆緣彼此相妒、此亦屬於虛、皆如捕風、

無論善惡、天主俱滅、故我言善惡無分、所遇皆同、天主若忽焉降災、誅戮世人、不顧無辜者受難、世界付於惡人手、治世之人、面俱蒙蔽、使之者非天主而誰、
