Children under a curse!They have gone astray by abandoning the straight path and have followed the path of Balaam, the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of wickednessbut received a rebuke for his lawlessness: A speechless donkey spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.These people are springs without water, mists driven by a storm. The gloom of darkness has been reserved for them.

These people are dangerous reefs at your love feasts as they eat with you without reverence. They are shepherds who only look after themselves. They are waterless clouds carried along by winds; trees in late autumn— fruitless, twice dead and uprooted.They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shameful deeds; wandering stars for whom the blackness of darkness is reserved forever.

If a wise person goes to court with a fool, there will be ranting and raving but no resolution.

I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; I will cause everyone to wear sackcloth and every head to be shaved. I will make that grief like mourning for an only son and its outcome like a bitter day.

“‘ Son,’ Abraham said,‘ remember that during your life you received your good things, just as Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here, while you are in agony.

Woe to you who are now full, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who are now laughing, for you will mourn and weep.
