所以他把猛烈的怒火和慘烈的戰火都傾瀉在以色列身上；火就在他們四圍燒起，他們卻不明白，火燒著了他們，他們也不放在心上。

堅固門徒們的心，鼓勵他們持守信仰，說：「我們進入神的國，必須經過很多患難。」

聽完了這一切，結論就是：當敬畏神，謹守他的誡命，因為這是每一個人的本份。

這樣，你們現在雖然也有憂慮，但是我會再見到你們，你們心裡將喜樂，並且沒有人能奪去你們的喜樂。在那一天，你們什麼也不會問我了。「我確確實實地告訴你們：你們奉我的名無論向父求什麼，他都將賜給你們。

你已將我的哀哭變為跳舞，你已脫去我的麻衣，為我披上喜樂，好讓我的靈歌頌你，不致靜默。耶和華我的神哪，我要稱謝你，直到永遠！

到那日，主萬軍之耶和華呼籲你們哭泣哀號、剃光頭髮、束上麻布。看哪！你們卻歡喜快樂，殺牛宰羊，吃肉喝酒，說：「讓我們吃喝吧！因為明天我們就要死了。」萬軍之耶和華親自啟示我：「這罪孽，你們到死也絕不會贖清！」這是主萬軍之耶和華說的。

你們中間誰受苦，就應該禱告；誰歡喜，就應該歌頌。

耶和華啊，你的手高舉，他們卻不看！願他們看到你對子民的熱心就蒙羞；願你為敵人所預備的烈火吞噬他們！

我受磨煉使我受益，好讓我學習你的律例。

耶和華啊！你所管教、用律法教導的人，是蒙福的。你使他在災禍的日子裡平穩，直到給惡人挖好了深坑；

你們去學『我要的是憐憫，而不是祭祀』這話是什麼意思吧！我來不是要召喚義人，而是要召喚罪人。」
