As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owners except to feast their eyes on them?

As more and more goods are made, more and more people use them up. So how can those goods benefit their owners? All they can do is look at them with desire.

When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his eyes?

The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth— except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!

When good things increase, the ones who consume them multiply; what, then, is the profit to the owner, except to gaze at them with his eyes?

When good things increase, those who consume them increase. So what is the advantage to their owners except to look at them?

在夺得的财物中，我看上了一件漂亮的示拿外衣、两千二百克银子和五百五十克金子，我一时贪心便拿去了，藏在我帐篷的地底下，银子就放在衣服下面。”约书亚派人跑到他的帐篷里，果然在那里找到了那件衣服和衣服下面的银子。他们将这些东西带到约书亚和民众那里，摆在耶和华面前。约书亚和全体以色列人把谢拉家族的亚干、那些银子、衣服和金子及其儿女、牛、驴、羊、帐篷和一切所有都带到亚割谷。约书亚对亚干说：“你为什么给我们惹祸呢？今天耶和华要降祸给你。”于是，以色列人便拿石头打死了他和他一切的人畜，将其烧毁。

和亚伯兰同行的罗得也有牛群、羊群和帐篷。他们的牲畜很多，那地方容纳不下，他们无法住在一起。亚伯兰的牧人和罗得的牧人彼此争执。那时，迦南人和比利洗人也住在那里。

因为撒莱的缘故，法老厚待亚伯兰，赏给他许多牛、羊、驴、骆驼和仆婢。

除了从周围外邦来到我们这里的人之外，还有一百五十名犹太人和官员与我一同吃饭。我每天需要预备一头公牛、六只肥羊和飞禽；每十天还要大量供应各样酒品。即使这样，我仍然没有吃省长的俸禄，因为民众已经负担沉重。

这时候亚伯兰已经拥有很多牲畜和金银。

满足于眼前所有的，胜过心中贪想的。这也是虚空，如同捕风。

求你使我的心爱慕你的法度而非不义之财。求你使我的眼目远离虚空之事，按你的旨意更新我的生命。

所罗门王从以色列征集了三万劳工，派他们每月轮班到黎巴嫩工作，每班一万人，在黎巴嫩一个月，在家两个月。亚多尼兰做他们的总管。所罗门又征用了七万名搬运工，八万名在山上凿石的匠人。此外，他还派了三千三百名监工，监督工人做工。

钱财眨眼之间消逝无踪，它必长出翅膀如鹰飞去。

年轻人啊，在年轻时要快乐，要在青春岁月里使自己的心欢畅。心里想做什么就去做，眼睛想看什么就去看。然而，要切记：上帝必照你所行的一切审判你。

王室每天用三千公斤细面粉、六千公斤粗面粉、十头肥牛、二十头草场的牛、一百只羊，此外还有鹿、羚羊、狍子及肥禽。

谋取不义之财的人就像孵其他鸟蛋的鹧鸪，他中年便会失去不义之财，最后成了愚昧之人。
