All things are full of weariness beyond uttering. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.

I applied my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under the sky. It is a heavy burden that God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with.

“ But God said to him,‘ You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared— whose will they be?’

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up.Again, if two lie together, then they have warmth; but how can one keep warm alone?If a man prevails against one who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Woe to those who join house to house, who lay field to field, until there is no room, and you are made to dwell alone in the middle of the land!

He who loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he who loves abundance, with increase: this also is vanity.

Yahweh God said,“ It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

Why do you spend money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which doesn’t satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in richness.

For all his days are sorrows, and his travail is grief; yes, even in the night his heart takes no rest. This also is vanity.

No one thinks, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say,“ I have burned part of it in the fire. Yes, I have also baked bread on its coals. I have roasted meat and eaten it. Shall I make the rest of it into an abomination? Shall I bow down to a tree trunk?”He feeds on ashes. A deceived heart has turned him aside; and he can’t deliver his soul, nor say,“ Isn’t there a lie in my right hand?”

Let no foreigner who has joined himself to Yahweh speak, saying,“ Yahweh will surely separate me from his people.” Do not let the eunuch say,“ Behold, I am a dry tree.”For Yahweh says,“ To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, choose the things that please me, and hold fast to my covenant,I will give them in my house and within my walls a memorial and a name better than of sons and of daughters. I will give them an everlasting name that will not be cut off.

Yes, moreover, wine is treacherous. An arrogant man who doesn’t stay at home, who enlarges his desire as Sheol, and he is like death, and can’t be satisfied, but gathers to himself all nations, and heaps to himself all peoples.Won’t all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say,‘ Woe to him who increases that which is not his, and who enriches himself by extortion! How long?’Won’t your debtors rise up suddenly, and wake up those who make you tremble, and you will be their victim?Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples will plunder you, because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it.Woe to him who gets an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil!
