有人塊然獨處、無兄弟子女、不與友朋交接、然亦勞苦不已、雖得貨財、不以為足、不敢自用、不知遺誰、此屬於虛、更貽後患。

有人獨處無子、無兄弟、然亦勞碌不已、雖得多財、目中不以為足、亦不自問曰、我不自享所得、我勞碌究為誰耶、此亦屬於虛、徒勞無益、

There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth.“ For whom am I toiling,” he asked,“ and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?” This too is meaningless— a miserable business!

A man lived all by himself. He didn’t have any sons or brothers. His hard work never ended. But he wasn’t happy with what he had.“ Who am I working so hard for?” he asked.“ Why don’t I get the things I enjoy?” That doesn’t have any meaning either. In fact, it’s a very bad deal!

one person who has no other, either son or brother, yet there is no end to all his toil, and his eyes are never satisfied with riches, so that he never asks,“ For whom am I toiling and depriving myself of pleasure?” This also is vanity and an unhappy business.

This is the case of a man who is all alone, without a child or a brother, yet who works hard to gain as much wealth as he can. But then he asks himself,“ Who am I working for? Why am I giving up so much pleasure now?” It is all so meaningless and depressing.

There is a person without a companion, without even a son or brother, and though there is no end to all his struggles, his eyes are still not content with riches.“ Who am I struggling for,” he asks,“ and depriving myself of good things?” This too is futile and a miserable task.

阴间和灭亡永不满足；人的眼目也是如此。

因为，凡世界上的事，就像肉体的情欲、眼目的情欲，并今生的骄傲，都不是从父来的，乃是从世界来的。

万事令人厌烦，人不能说尽。眼看，看不饱；耳听，听不足。

我专心用智慧寻求、查究天下所做的一切事，乃知神叫世人所经练的是极重的劳苦。

神却对他说：‘无知的人哪，今夜必要你的灵魂；你所预备的要归谁呢？’

两个人总比一个人好，因为二人劳碌同得美好的果效。若是跌倒，这人可以扶起他的同伴；若是孤身跌倒，没有别人扶起他来，这人就有祸了。再者，二人同睡就都暖和，一人独睡怎能暖和呢？有人攻胜孤身一人，若有二人便能敌挡他；三股合成的绳子不容易折断。

祸哉！那些以房接房，以地连地，以致不留余地的，只顾自己独居境内。

世人行动实系幻影。他们忙乱，真是枉然；积蓄财宝，不知将来有谁收取。

贪爱银子的，不因得银子知足；贪爱丰富的，也不因得利益知足。这也是虚空。

耶和华神说：“那人独居不好，我要为他造一个配偶帮助他。”

你们为何花钱买那不足为食物的？用劳碌得来的买那不使人饱足的呢？你们要留意听我的话就能吃那美物，得享肥甘，心中喜乐。

亚伯兰说：“主耶和华啊，我既无子，你还赐我什么呢？并且要承受我家业的是大马士革人以利以谢。”亚伯兰又说：“你没有给我儿子；那生在我家中的人就是我的后嗣。”

因为他日日忧虑，他的劳苦成为愁烦，连夜间心也不安。这也是虚空。

凡劳苦担重担的人可以到我这里来，我就使你们得安息。

谁心里也不醒悟，也没有知识，没有聪明，能说：“我曾拿一份在火中烧了，在炭火上烤过饼；我也烤过肉吃。这剩下的，我岂要作可憎的物吗？我岂可向木墩子叩拜呢？”他以灰为食，心中昏迷，使他偏邪，他不能自救，也不能说：“我右手中岂不是有虚谎吗？”

与耶和华联合的外邦人不要说：“耶和华必定将我从他民中分别出来。”太监也不要说：“我是枯树。”因为耶和华如此说：“那些谨守我的安息日，拣选我所喜悦的事，持守我约的太监，我必使他们在我殿中，在我墙内，有记念，有名号，比有儿女的更美。我必赐他们永远的名，不能剪除。”

迦勒底人因酒诡诈，狂傲，不住在家中，扩充心欲，好像阴间。他如死不能知足，聚集万国，堆积万民都归自己。这些国的民岂不都要提起诗歌并俗语讥刺他说：“祸哉！迦勒底人，你增添不属自己的财物，多多取人的当头，要到几时为止呢？”咬伤你的岂不忽然起来，扰害你的岂不兴起，你就作他们的掳物吗？因你抢夺许多的国，杀人流血，向国内的城并城中一切居民施行强暴，所以各国剩下的民都必抢夺你。为本家积蓄不义之财、在高处搭窝、指望免灾的有祸了！
