蓋彼出獄而為王、今雖得國、生時則貧也、或作彼出自獄中為王此雖生時為王後反為貧民

The youth may have come from prison to the kingship, or he may have been born in poverty within his kingdom.

The young man might have come from prison to become king. Or he might have been born poor within the kingdom but still became king.

For he went from prison to the throne, though in his own kingdom he had been born poor.

Such a youth could rise from poverty and succeed. He might even become king, though he has been in prison.

For he came from prison to be king, even though he was born poor in his kingdom.

Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon. He shaved himself, changed his clothing, and came in to Pharaoh.

so that he sets up on high those who are low, those who mourn are exalted to safety.

He raises up the poor out of the dust. Lifts up the needy from the ash heap,that he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him.Yahweh sent against him bands of the Chaldeans, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to Yahweh’s word, which he spoke by his servants the prophets.

They killed Zedekiah’s sons before his eyes, then put out Zedekiah’s eyes, bound him in fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

In the thirty- seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty- seventh day of the month, Evilmerodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison;and he spoke kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon,and changed his prison garments. Jehoiachin ate bread before him continually all the days of his life;and for his allowance, there was a continual allowance given him from the king, every day a portion, all the days of his life.

So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.

“ Now therefore let Pharaoh look for a discreet and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt.Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint overseers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt’s produce in the seven plenteous years.Let them gather all the food of these good years that come, and store grain under the hand of Pharaoh for food in the cities, and let them keep it.The food will be to supply the land against the seven years of famine, which will be in the land of Egypt; so that the land will not perish through the famine.”The thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.Pharaoh said to his servants,“ Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”Pharaoh said to Joseph,“ Because God has shown you all of this, there is no one so discreet and wise as you.You shall be over my house. All my people will be ruled according to your word. Only in the throne I will be greater than you.”Pharaoh said to Joseph,“ Behold, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”Pharaoh took off his signet ring from his hand, and put it on Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in robes of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck.He made him ride in the second chariot which he had. They cried before him,“ Bow the knee!” He set him over all the land of Egypt.Pharaoh said to Joseph,“ I am Pharaoh. Without you, no man shall lift up his hand or his foot in all the land of Egypt.”

While the word was in the king’s mouth, a voice came from the sky, saying,“ O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken:‘ The kingdom has departed from you.

The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of Yahweh, was taken in their pits; of whom we said, under his shadow we will live among the nations.

Jehoahaz was twenty- three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, according to all that his fathers had done.Pharaoh Necoh put him in bonds at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of one hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.Pharaoh Necoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the place of Josiah his father, and changed his name to Jehoiakim; but he took Jehoahaz away, and he came to Egypt and died there.

and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers; and the king of Babylon captured him in the eighth year of his reign.

and he took away the treasures of Yahweh’s house, and the treasures of the king’s house. He even took away all of it, including all the gold shields which Solomon had made.King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.
