苟有傾跌、可相扶持、惟孤身而傾跌、無扶持者、禍哉其人、

若一人傾跌、則一人為之扶持、獨居而蹶、援手無人、豈不難哉。

若傾跌、則互相扶持、若孤身而跌、可歎無人援之起、

If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.

Suppose either of them falls down. Then the one can help the other one up. But suppose a person falls down and doesn’t have anyone to help them up. Then feel sorry for that person!

For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!

If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.

Strengthen the weak hands, steady the shaking knees!Say to the cowardly:“ Be strong; do not fear! Here is your God; vengeance is coming. God’s retribution is coming; He will save you.”

Brothers, if someone is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so you also won’t be tempted.

Therefore encourage one another with these words.

When the time of mourning ended, David had her brought to his house. She became his wife and bore him a son. However, the Lord considered what David had done to be evil.

Then Aaron replied to them,“ Take off the gold rings that are on the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters and bring them to me.”So all the people took off the gold rings that were on their ears and brought them to Aaron.He took the gold from their hands, fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it into an image of a calf. Then they said,“ Israel, this is your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt!”

“ Simon, Simon, look out! Satan has asked to sift you like wheat.But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

“ Your servant had two sons. They were fighting in the field with no one to separate them, and one struck the other and killed him.

Indeed, you have instructed many and have strengthened weak hands.Your words have steadied the one who was stumbling and braced the knees that were buckling.

Then Saul’s son Jonathan came to David in Horesh and encouraged him in his faith in God,

But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face because he stood condemned.For he regularly ate with the Gentiles before certain men came from James. However, when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, because he feared those from the circumcision party.Then the rest of the Jews joined his hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy.But when I saw that they were deviating from the truth of the gospel, I told Cephas in front of everyone,“ If you, who are a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you compel Gentiles to live like Jews?”

Then Moses asked Aaron,“ What did these people do to you that you have led them into such a grave sin?”

I was afraid of the fierce anger the Lord had directed against you, because He was about to destroy you. But again the Lord listened to me on that occasion.The Lord was angry enough with Aaron to destroy him. But I prayed for Aaron at that time also.

Nathan replied to David,“ You are the man! This is what the Lord God of Israel says:‘ I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.I gave your master’s house to you and your master’s wives into your arms, and I gave you the house of Israel and Judah, and if that was not enough, I would have given you even more.Why then have you despised the command of the Lord by doing what I consider evil? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife as your own wife— you murdered him with the Ammonite’s sword.Now therefore, the sword will never leave your house because you despised Me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own wife.’“ This is what the Lord says,‘ I am going to bring disaster on you from your own family: I will take your wives and give them to another before your very eyes, and he will sleep with them publicly.You acted in secret, but I will do this before all Israel and in broad daylight.’”David responded to Nathan,“ I have sinned against the Lord.” Then Nathan replied to David,“ The Lord has taken away your sin; you will not die.However, because you treated the Lord with such contempt in this matter, the son born to you will die.”
