It is good for a man to bear The yoke in his youth.

Indeed, if a person lives many years, let him rejoice in them all; but let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. Everything that is to come will be futility.

Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he grows older he will not abandon it.

But Jesus called for the little ones, saying,“ Allow the children to come to Me, and do not forbid them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

God, You have taught me from my youth, And I still declare Your wondrous deeds.And even when I am old and gray, God, do not abandon me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to all who are to come.

Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

So remove sorrow from your heart and keep pain away from your body, because childhood and the prime of life are fleeting.

and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me.

Yet You are He who brought me forth from the womb; You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.I was cast upon You from birth; You have been my God from my mother’s womb.

So he sent word and brought him in. Now he was reddish, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And the Lord said,“ Arise, anoint him; for this is he.”So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel set out and went to Ramah.

But the Lord said to Samuel,“ Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God does not see as man sees, since man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, Or if due to strength, eighty years, Yet their pride is only trouble and tragedy; For it quickly passes, and we disappear.

I am now eighty years old. Can I distinguish between good and bad? Or can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Or can I still hear the voice of men and women singing? Why then should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king?

And the Lord was with Joseph, so he became a successful man. And he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian.

Now Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and He let none of his words fail.And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was confirmed as a prophet of the Lord.And the Lord appeared again at Shiloh, because the Lord revealed Himself to Samuel at Shiloh by the word of the Lord.

But he refused and said to his master’s wife,“ Look, with me here, my master does not concern himself with anything in the house, and he has put me in charge of all that he owns.There is no one greater in this house than I, and he has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do this great evil, and sin against God?”

Now the boy Samuel was continuing to grow and to be in favor both with the Lord and with people.

Now Samuel was ministering before the Lord, as a boy wearing a linen ephod.

The warden of the prison did not supervise anything under Joseph’s authority, because the Lord was with him; and, the Lord made whatever he did prosper.

Now the Child continued to grow and to become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the favor of God was upon Him.His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.And when He was twelve years old, they went up there according to the custom of the feast;and as they were returning, after spending the full number of days required, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but His parents were unaware of it.Instead, they thought that He was somewhere in the caravan, and they went a day’s journey; and then they began looking for Him among their relatives and acquaintances.And when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, looking for Him.Then, after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers.When Joseph and Mary saw Him, they were bewildered; and His mother said to Him,“ Son, why have You treated us this way? Behold, Your father and I have been anxiously looking for You!”And He said to them,“ Why is it that you were looking for Me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s house?”And yet they on their part did not understand the statement which He had made to them.And He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and He continued to be subject to them; and His mother treasured all these things in her heart.And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and people.

So I have also dedicated him to the Lord; as long as he lives he is dedicated to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there.

He did what was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of his father David and did not turn aside to the right or the left.For in the eighth year of his reign while he was still a youth, he began to seek the God of his father David; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherim, the carved images, and the cast metal images.

And as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in every kind of literature and expertise; Daniel even understood all kinds of visions and dreams.

Indeed, what good was the strength of their hands to me? Vigor had perished from them.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he has defied the armies of the living God.”And David said,“ The Lord who saved me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear, He will save me from the hand of this Philistine.” So Saul said to David,“ Go, and may the Lord be with you.”

Then all Israel will mourn for him and bury him, for he alone of Jeroboam’s family will come to the grave, because in him something good was found toward the Lord God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.

But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king’s choice food or with the wine which he drank; so he sought permission from the commander of the officials that he might not defile himself.Now God granted Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the commander of the officials.

Then Solomon said,“ You have shown great faithfulness to Your servant David my father, according as he walked before You in truth, righteousness, and uprightness of heart toward You; and You have reserved for him this great faithfulness, that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.And now, Lord my God, You have made Your servant king in place of my father David, yet I am like a little boy; I do not know how to go out or come in.And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people who are too many to be numbered or counted.So give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, to discern between good and evil. For who is capable of judging this great people of Yours?”Now it was pleasing in the sight of the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing.And God said to him,“ Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself a long life, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the lives of your enemies, but have asked for yourself discernment to understand justice,behold, I have done according to your words. Behold, I have given you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has been no one like you before you, nor shall one like you arise after you.

For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and he will drink no wine or liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while still in his mother’s womb.

Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, Lord, We have waited for You eagerly; Your name, and remembering You, is the desire of our souls.

And it will come about when I leave you that the Spirit of the Lord will carry you to where I do not know; so when I come and inform Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me, though I, your servant, have feared the Lord from my youth.

Strangers devour his strength, Yet he does not know it; Gray hairs also are sprinkled on him, Yet he does not know it.
