No one remembers the former generations, and even those yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow them.

No one remembers the people of long ago. Even those who haven’t been born yet won’t be remembered by those who will be born after them.

There is no remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of later things yet to be among those who come after.

We don’t remember what happened in the past, and in future generations, no one will remember what we are doing now.

敵國被滅盡，永遠荒廢；他們的城市你拔毁其根；他們令人懷念的遺跡也都滅沒。

讓他們提出，並告訴我們所要發生的事。把先前的事是甚麼事告訴我們，好讓我們用心思想，好知道其結局；或者把將來的事說給我們聽聽！把此後要來的事說明說明！好叫我們知道你們是神；啊，降福或降禍吧，使我們彷徨張望，同時又懼怕呀！看哪，你們簡直是無有，你們的作為乃是虛無；那選擇你們的是「可厭惡」。我激動一個人從北方而起，他就來，從日出之地而來，他就呼求我的名；他必踐踏掌權者像踏泥土，像窰匠踹淤泥一樣。誰從起初宣告，使我們知道呢？誰從先前說明，使我們說『對！』呢？啊，誰也沒有宣告，啊，誰也沒有說給人聽，啊，誰也沒有聽見你們的宣言呀！
