I went up the mountain. I went there to receive the tablets of the covenant law. They were made out of stone. It was the covenant the Lord had made with you. I stayed on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights. I didn’t eat any food or drink any water.

摩西登山入雲、凡歷四旬、日夜在焉。

耶和華諭摩西曰、爾可陟彼高崗、待我以勒石之誡命律法錫爾、使爾以此訓民。

摩西登崗、有雲蔽之、

遂起飲食、精力頓增、行歷四旬、晝夜不息、詣上帝之山何烈、

耶穌禁食四十日夜、饑、

爾既犯罪、行惡於耶和華前、以干厥怒、耶和華欲殲滅爾、我甚畏懼、仍伏其前、四旬晝夜、不食餅不飲水、耶和華允我所祈。

斯可為二約譬、一則西乃山、使人為奴、夏甲是也、

曰不可、即使以刃以弓虜之而至、亦不可擊、當供以餅、給以水、使其飲食、而歸其王。

上帝之僕曰、即爾以家之半賜於我、我不入爾室、亦不食餅飲水於此。蓋耶和華曾命我曰、毋食餅飲水於此、所往之途毋再由之。

耶和華曰、時日伊邇、我與以色列族猶大家將立新約。昔我佑厥祖導出埃及、與之立約為彼所爽、我擯之弗顧、今復立約、必不若是。

上帝於西乃山、既與摩西言、手書律法於二石碑、以賜之。
