Remember and do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day you came out of the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the Lord.

爾之前事、當憶弗忘、爾在曠野、干爾上帝耶和華震怒、自出埃及之日、越至於此、違逆耶和華。

爾當記憶不忘、爾在曠野常干主爾天主震怒、自爾出伊及之日、迄至此時、爾常違逆主、

Remember this and never forget how you aroused the anger of the Lord your God in the wilderness. From the day you left Egypt until you arrived here, you have been rebellious against the Lord.

Here is something you must remember. Never forget it. You made the Lord your God angry in the desert. You refused to obey him from the day you left Egypt until you arrived here.

“ Remember and never forget how angry you made the Lord your God out in the wilderness. From the day you left Egypt until now, you have been constantly rebelling against him.

“ Remember and do not forget how you provoked the LORD your God in the wilderness. You have been rebelling against the LORD from the day you left the land of Egypt until you reached this place.

Remember, do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God to anger in the wilderness; from the day that you left the land of Egypt until you arrived at this place, you have been rebellious against the Lord.

“ Remember! Do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you departed from the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the Lord.

Remember, forget thou not, how thou provokedst Jehovah thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou wentest forth out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against Jehovah.

“ Remember and do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God in the wilderness. You have been rebelling against the Lord from the day you left the land of Egypt until you reached this place.

Remember,[ and] forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.

Remember– don’t ever forget– how you provoked the LORD your God in the desert; from the time you left the land of Egypt until you came to this place you were constantly rebelling against him.

Remember, and don’t forget, how you provoked Yahweh your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you left the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against Yahweh.

They said to Moses,“ Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt?

And the people spoke against God and against Moses,“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this worthless food.”

Now the rabble that was among them had a strong craving. And the people of Israel also wept again and said,“ Oh that we had meat to eat!

And the whole congregation of the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness,

Therefore the people quarreled with Moses and said,“ Give us water to drink.” And Moses said to them,“ Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the Lord?”

These invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods.

For I know how rebellious and stubborn you are. Behold, even today while I am yet alive with you, you have been rebellious against the Lord. How much more after my death!

Now there was no water for the congregation. And they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.And the people quarreled with Moses and said,“ Would that we had perished when our brothers perished before the Lord!Why have you brought the assembly of the Lord into this wilderness, that we should die here, both we and our cattle?And why have you made us come up out of Egypt to bring us to this evil place? It is no place for grain or figs or vines or pomegranates, and there is no water to drink.”

Then you will remember your evil ways, and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourselves for your iniquities and your abominations.

Then all the congregation raised a loud cry, and the people wept that night.And all the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The whole congregation said to them,“ Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would that we had died in this wilderness!Why is the Lord bringing us into this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become a prey. Would it not be better for us to go back to Egypt?”And they said to one another,“ Let us choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the people of Israel.And Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothesand said to all the congregation of the people of Israel,“ The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land.If the Lord delights in us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land that flows with milk and honey.Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.”Then all the congregation said to stone them with stones. But the glory of the Lord appeared at the tent of meeting to all the people of Israel.

Now Korah the son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men.And they rose up before Moses, with a number of the people of Israel, 250 chiefs of the congregation, chosen from the assembly, well-known men.They assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said to them,“ You have gone too far! For all in the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”When Moses heard it, he fell on his face,and he said to Korah and all his company,“ In the morning the Lord will show who is his, and who is holy, and will bring him near to him. The one whom he chooses he will bring near to him.Do this: take censers, Korah and all his company;put fire in them and put incense on them before the Lord tomorrow, and the man whom the Lord chooses shall be the holy one. You have gone too far, sons of Levi!”And Moses said to Korah,“ Hear now, you sons of Levi:is it too small a thing for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do service in the tabernacle of the Lord and to stand before the congregation to minister to them,and that he has brought you near him, and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you? And would you seek the priesthood also?Therefore it is against the Lord that you and all your company have gathered together. What is Aaron that you grumble against him?”And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and they said,“ We will not come up.Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, that you must also make yourself a prince over us?Moreover, you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up.”And Moses was very angry and said to the Lord,“ Do not respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, and I have not harmed one of them.”And Moses said to Korah,“ Be present, you and all your company, before the Lord, you and they, and Aaron, tomorrow.And let every one of you take his censer and put incense on it, and every one of you bring before the Lord his censer, 250 censers; you also, and Aaron, each his censer.”So every man took his censer and put fire in them and laid incense on them and stood at the entrance of the tent of meeting with Moses and Aaron.Then Korah assembled all the congregation against them at the entrance of the tent of meeting. And the glory of the Lord appeared to all the congregation.And the Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,“ Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.”And they fell on their faces and said,“ O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be angry with all the congregation?”And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Say to the congregation, Get away from the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.”Then Moses rose and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him.And he spoke to the congregation, saying,“ Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be swept away with all their sins.”So they got away from the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. And Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the door of their tents, together with their wives, their sons, and their little ones.And Moses said,“ Hereby you shall know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works, and that it has not been of my own accord.If these men die as all men die, or if they are visited by the fate of all mankind, then the Lord has not sent me.But if the Lord creates something new, and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into Sheol, then you shall know that these men have despised the Lord.”And as soon as he had finished speaking all these words, the ground under them split apart.And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the people who belonged to Korah and all their goods.So they and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol, and the earth closed over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly.And all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said,“ Lest the earth swallow us up!”And fire came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men offering the incense.

They have dealt corruptly with him; they are no longer his children because they are blemished; they are a crooked and twisted generation.Do you thus repay the Lord, you foolish and senseless people? Is not he your father, who created you, who made you and established you?

For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you take your sisters, both your elder and your younger, and I give them to you as daughters, but not on account of the covenant with you.I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall know that I am the Lord,that you may remember and be confounded, and never open your mouth again because of your shame, when I atone for you for all that you have done, declares the Lord God.”

do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,when your fathers put me to the test and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.For forty years I loathed that generation and said,“ They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.”Therefore I swore in my wrath,“ They shall not enter my rest.”

“ But they and our fathers acted presumptuously and stiffened their neck and did not obey your commandments.They refused to obey and were not mindful of the wonders that you performed among them, but they stiffened their neck and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But you are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and did not forsake them.Even when they had made for themselves a golden calf and said,‘ This is your God who brought you up out of Egypt,’ and had committed great blasphemies,

though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief,and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.

and that they should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God.The Ephraimites, armed with the bow, turned back on the day of battle.They did not keep God’s covenant, but refused to walk according to his law.They forgot his works and the wonders that he had shown them.In the sight of their fathers he performed wonders in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan.He divided the sea and let them pass through it, and made the waters stand like a heap.In the daytime he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a fiery light.He split rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep.He made streams come out of the rock and caused waters to flow down like rivers.Yet they sinned still more against him, rebelling against the Most High in the desert.They tested God in their heart by demanding the food they craved.They spoke against God, saying,“ Can God spread a table in the wilderness?He struck the rock so that water gushed out and streams overflowed. Can he also give bread or provide meat for his people?”Therefore, when the Lord heard, he was full of wrath; a fire was kindled against Jacob; his anger rose against Israel,because they did not believe in God and did not trust his saving power.Yet he commanded the skies above and opened the doors of heaven,and he rained down on them manna to eat and gave them the grain of heaven.Man ate of the bread of the angels; he sent them food in abundance.He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens, and by his power he led out the south wind;he rained meat on them like dust, winged birds like the sand of the seas;he let them fall in the midst of their camp, all around their dwellings.And they ate and were well filled, for he gave them what they craved.But before they had satisfied their craving, while the food was still in their mouths,the anger of God rose against them, and he killed the strongest of them and laid low the young men of Israel.In spite of all this, they still sinned; despite his wonders, they did not believe.So he made their days vanish like a breath, and their years in terror.When he killed them, they sought him; they repented and sought God earnestly.They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God their redeemer.But they flattered him with their mouths; they lied to him with their tongues.Their heart was not steadfast toward him; they were not faithful to his covenant.Yet he, being compassionate, atoned for their iniquity and did not destroy them; he restrained his anger often and did not stir up all his wrath.He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passes and comes not again.How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and grieved him in the desert!They tested God again and again and provoked the Holy One of Israel.They did not remember his power or the day when he redeemed them from the foe,when he performed his signs in Egypt and his marvels in the fields of Zoan.He turned their rivers to blood, so that they could not drink of their streams.He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them.He gave their crops to the destroying locust and the fruit of their labor to the locust.He destroyed their vines with hail and their sycamores with frost.He gave over their cattle to the hail and their flocks to thunderbolts.He let loose on them his burning anger, wrath, indignation, and distress, a company of destroying angels.He made a path for his anger; he did not spare them from death, but gave their lives over to the plague.He struck down every firstborn in Egypt, the firstfruits of their strength in the tents of Ham.Then he led out his people like sheep and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.He led them in safety, so that they were not afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.And he brought them to his holy land, to the mountain which his right hand had won.He drove out nations before them; he apportioned them for a possession and settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.Yet they tested and rebelled against the Most High God and did not keep his testimonies,but turned away and acted treacherously like their fathers; they twisted like a deceitful bow.For they provoked him to anger with their high places; they moved him to jealousy with their idols.When God heard, he was full of wrath, and he utterly rejected Israel.He forsook his dwelling at Shiloh, the tent where he dwelt among mankind,and delivered his power to captivity, his glory to the hand of the foe.He gave his people over to the sword and vented his wrath on his heritage.Fire devoured their young men, and their young women had no marriage song.Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows made no lamentation.Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a strong man shouting because of wine.And he put his adversaries to rout; he put them to everlasting shame.He rejected the tent of Joseph; he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loves.He built his sanctuary like the high heavens, like the earth, which he has founded forever.He chose David his servant and took him from the sheepfolds;from following the nursing ewes he brought him to shepherd Jacob his people, Israel his inheritance.With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand.

And there you shall remember your ways and all your deeds with which you have defiled yourselves, and you shall loathe yourselves for all the evils that you have committed.

Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called“ the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands—

And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.
