亚伦对他们说：“把你们妻子和儿女戴在耳上的金环摘下来，送来给我。”全体人民就把他们耳上的金耳环都摘下来，送来给亚伦。亚伦从他们手中接过来，用雕刻的工具雕刻，铸造了一个牛像；他们就说：“以色列啊，这就是你们的神，就是把你从埃及地领出来的那位。”亚伦看见了，就在牛像面前筑了一座祭坛，并且宣告，说：“明日是耶和华的节日。”

耶和华击杀人民是因为他们敬拜亚伦做的牛犊。

这样的一位大祭司，对我们本是合适的。他是圣洁、没有邪恶、没有玷污、从罪人中分别出来、高过众天的。他不必像那些大祭司，天天先为自己的罪献祭，然后为人民的罪献祭；因为他献上了自己，就把这事一次而永远的成全了。律法所立的大祭司，都是软弱的人；可是在律法以后，用誓言所立的儿子，却是成为完全直到永远的。

摩西对亚伦说：“这人民向你作了什么，你竟使他们陷在大罪里呢？”
