I feared the anger and wrath of the Lord, for he was angry enough with you to destroy you. But again the Lord listened to me.

I was afraid of the Lord’ s great anger. He was so angry with you he wanted to destroy you. But the Lord listened to me again.

For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure that the Lord bore against you, so that he was ready to destroy you. But the Lord listened to me that time also.

I feared that the furious anger of the Lord, which turned him against you, would drive him to destroy you. But again he listened to me.

現在，你且由得我，讓我向他們發烈怒，把他們消滅；我要使你成為大國。”摩西就懇求耶和華他的神施恩，說：“耶和華啊，你為甚麼向你的人民發烈怒呢？這人民是你用大能和全能的手從埃及地領出來的。

在他的祭司中有摩西和亞倫，在求告他名的人中有撒母耳；他們求告耶和華，他就應允他們。

耶和華對摩西說：“你所說的這件事我也要作，因為你在我眼前蒙恩，並且我按著你的名字認識了你。”

蝗蟲吃盡地上的農產時，我說：“主耶和華啊！求你寬恕，因雅各太弱小，怎能站立得住呢？”耶和華對這事改變心意，耶和華說：“這事不會發生。”

我的一位兄弟哈拿尼和幾個人一起從猶大來到；我詢問他們關於那些從被擄逃脫的猶大餘民和關於耶路撒冷的景況。他們對我說：“那些從被擄剩下的餘民，在猶大省那裡遭遇大患難，受到凌辱。耶路撒冷的城牆倒塌，城門也被火燒毀。”我聽見了這些事，就坐下哭泣，悲傷了好幾天，在天上的神面前禁食禱告，說：“耶和華天上的神，偉大可畏的神啊，你向那些愛你，遵守你誡命的人，守約施慈愛。求你側著耳，睜著眼的，垂聽你僕人的禱告，我今天在你面前晝夜為著你的僕人以色列人禱告，承認以色列人所犯的罪，就是我與我父的家向你所犯的罪。我們故意行極大的惡事得罪你，沒有遵守你吩咐你僕人摩西的誡命、律例和典章。

因此我對主耶和華說：“求你停止吧！因雅各太弱小，怎能站立得住呢？”耶和華對這事改變心意。主耶和華說：“這事也不會發生。”

“我的朋友，我告訴你們，那殺身體以後不能再作甚麼的，不要怕他們。我要指示你們當怕的是誰：當怕那殺身體以後，有權把人投入地獄裡的；我告訴你們，應當怕他。

所以他說要滅絕他們，不是有他揀選的摩西，在他面前站在破口上，使他的怒氣轉消，恐怕他早已毀滅他們了。

你們在何烈山又惹耶和華發怒，以致耶和華向你們發怒，要滅絕你們。
