「以色列啊，你要聽！你今日要過約旦河，進去佔領比你更強大的列國，那裏的城鎮又大，城牆又堅固，如天一樣高。

「以色列人啊，你們要聽！今天你們要過約旦河，去趕出那些比你們強大的民族。他們住在城牆高聳入雲的大城裡，

以色列族、尚其聽之、今日爾渡約但、有較爾強大之民、其城垣廣大、高可參天、爾將得之。

以色列人當聽、爾今日將渡約但、欲往得國、居民較爾強大、城垣廣大鞏固、崇高接天、

Hear, Israel: You are now about to cross the Jordan to go in and dispossess nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities that have walls up to the sky.

Israel, listen to me. You are now about to go across the Jordan River. You will take over the land of the nations that live there. Those nations are greater and stronger than you are. Their large cities have walls that reach up to the sky.

“ Hear, O Israel: you are to cross over the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than you, cities great and fortified up to heaven,

“ Listen, O Israel! Today you are about to cross the Jordan River to take over the land belonging to nations much greater and more powerful than you. They live in cities with walls that reach to the sky!

“ Listen, Israel: Today you are about to cross the Jordan to enter and drive out nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities fortified to the heavens.

“ Hear, Israel! You are crossing the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than you, cities that are great and fortified to heaven,

“ Hear, O Israel: You are to cross over the Jordan today, and go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to heaven,

我们怎能上去呢？那些弟兄的报告令我们胆战心惊，他们说那里的人比我们高大，城邑雄伟，城墙高达云霄，还有亚衲人在那里。’

赶走比你们强大的民族，领你们进入他们的土地，把他们的土地赐给你们作产业，正如今日的情形。

耶和华就会为你们赶走那些比你们强大的民族，你们也必占领他们的土地。

你们穿过约旦河，占领耶和华赐给你们的土地，定居下来以后，

“你们要走遍全营，吩咐大家预备好食物。因为三天之内，你们就要过约旦河，去占领你们的上帝耶和华赐给你们的土地。”

“你们的上帝耶和华带领你们进入将要占领的土地时，会为你们赶走赫人、革迦撒人、亚摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人和耶布斯人这七个比你们强大的民族。

那天是一月十日。以色列人从约旦河上来之后，就在耶利哥东边的吉甲扎营。

“那时我吩咐他们，‘你们的上帝耶和华已经把这些地方赐给你们，但你们所有的战士必须带着兵器过河，做同胞的先锋。

往下流的水立即止住了，在很远的撒拉但附近的亚当城那里涨成一道水墙。流入亚拉巴海，即盐海的水被完全截断了，民众便走到对面的耶利哥。

约书亚又对祭司说：“抬起约柜，率领民众过河吧！”他们就抬起约柜，走在民众前面。

但那里的居民很强悍，城邑又大又坚固。我们在那里还见到亚衲人的子孙。亚玛力人住在南地，赫人、耶布斯人和亚摩利人住在山区，迦南人住在海边和约旦河沿岸。”迦勒让站在摩西面前的民众安静，然后说：“我们立刻去占领那地方吧！我们必能取胜。”跟他一起去打探的人却说：“我们不能去攻打那些人，他们比我们强大。”他们还危言耸听，说：“我们去打探的地方是吞吃居民之地，我们看见的人个个身材高大。我们在那里看见了亚衲人的子孙，他们是巨人的后裔，我们跟他们相比就像蚱蜢，他们看我们也像蚱蜢。”

那时是收割的季节，河水高涨，淹没两岸。民众拔营准备过河的时候，抬约柜的祭司走在前头，当他们的脚刚一踏进河水，

他们经南地到达希伯仑。希伯仑城比埃及的锁安城还要早建七年，那里住着亚衲人的子孙亚希幔、示筛和挞买。

你们渡过约旦河、进入你们的上帝耶和华应许给你们的土地那天，要竖立几块大石，涂上石灰。

“你们到约旦河床你们的上帝耶和华的约柜前面，每人扛一块石头回来，每个支派一块，一共十二块。
