He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.

He gave you manna to eat in the desert. Your people had never even known anything about manna before. The Lord took your pride away. He tested you. He did it so that things would go well with you in the end.

“以色列的上帝耶和华这样说，‘那些从这里被掳到迦勒底的犹大人在我眼中是好无花果。我要眷顾他们，带他们回到这里。我要使他们兴起，不再毁灭他们；我要栽培他们，不再铲除他们；

我们这短暂轻微的苦难正在为我们成就极大无比、永远的荣耀。

我们的生身父亲是按自己以为好的标准暂时管教我们，但上帝是为了我们的益处而管教我们，使我们可以在祂的圣洁上有份。被管教的滋味绝不好受，当时都很痛苦，但事后那些受过管教的人会收获公义和平安的果子。

在试炼中能够忍耐到底的人有福了，因为他若经得起考验，就会得到主应许赐给爱祂之人的生命冠冕。

因此，默然等候耶和华的拯救是美好的。年轻时负轭受苦是有益的。受耶和华管教时，要默然独坐。要谦卑，脸伏于地，或许还有希望。要任人打脸，甘心忍受凌辱。因为主不会永远撇弃人。主尽管使人忧伤，祂依然怜悯人，因为祂有无限的慈爱。祂不愿使人忧伤、痛苦。

我们知道，上帝使万事互相效力，使那些爱上帝，就是上帝按自己的旨意呼召的人得益处。

这样，你们的信心经过试验便显明是真实的，比那经过火炼仍会坏掉的金子更加宝贵，使你们可以在耶稣基督显现时得到称赞、荣耀和尊贵。
