so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life.

Then you, your children and their children after them will honor the Lord your God as long as you live. Obey all his rules and commands I’m giving you. If you do, you will enjoy long life.

要知道，「那願意愛惜生命、願意見到好日子的人，要停止舌頭出惡言，不讓嘴唇說詭詐的話；要遠離邪惡，要行美善，要尋求和睦，要竭力追求；

你們既然稱不偏待人、只按每個人的行為施行審判的那一位為父，就應當懷著敬畏的心，過你們寄居的日子，

所有敬畏耶和華、走在他道路上的人，都是蒙福的！

我兒啊，不要忘記我的法則，你的心要謹守我的誡命，因為它們會將長久的日子、生命的歲月與平安加給你。

藉著慈愛和信實，罪孽被贖清；因敬畏耶和華，人就遠離惡事。

使者說：「不可向這少年下手，什麼也不可對他做！現在我知道你是敬畏神的，因為你沒有把你的兒子，就是你的獨生子，留下不給我。」

我要指示你們該懼怕的是誰：你們當懼怕那殺了身體以後，又有權把人扔進地獄的那一位。是的，我告訴你們：當懼怕這一位。

敬畏耶和華是智慧的開端；所有遵行這些的都有美好的見識。對耶和華的讚美將存留到永遠。

我們不會向子孫隱瞞，而要向後代講述對耶和華的讚美，講述他的大能和他所行的奇妙作為。他在雅各中立下法度，在以色列中設立律法，這律法是他吩咐我們的祖先教導子孫的，好讓將要出生的後代子孫可以明白，並且起來向他們的子孫講述；這樣他們就把神當作他們的依靠，不會忘記神所行的，而會謹守他的誡命；以免像他們的祖先，成為頑梗悖逆、心裡不堅定、靈裡對神不忠實的一代。

因為我揀選了他，是要他吩咐他的子孫和後代家族謹守我耶和華的道路，施行公義和公正；好讓我耶和華對亞伯拉罕所說的都應驗在他身上。」
