到了第三天早晨的時候，山上有雷聲、閃電和密雲，並且角聲非常強大，以致所有在營中的人民都顫抖。摩西率領人民出營去迎接神，他們都站在山下。西奈全山冒煙，因為耶和華在火中降臨到山上；山的煙向上升，好像火窯的煙一樣。全山猛烈震動。

全體人民都看見打雷、閃電、角聲和冒著煙的山；人民看見了，就顫抖，遠遠地站著。他們對摩西說：“求你和我們說話吧，我們必定聽你的話，不可讓神和我們說話，恐怕我們死亡。”

你們不是來到那座摸得著的山。那裡有烈火、密雲、幽暗、暴風、號筒的響聲和說話的聲音；那些聽見這聲音的人，都請求神不要再向他們多說話；
