God, we have heard with our ears— our ancestors have told us— the work You accomplished in their days, in days long ago:

things we have heard and known and that our fathers have passed down to us.We must not hide them from their children, but must tell a future generation the praises of the Lord, His might, and the wonderful works He has performed.

For ask the previous generation, and pay attention to what their fathers discovered,since we were born only yesterday and know nothing. Our days on earth are but a shadow.Will they not teach you and tell you and speak from their understanding?

I consider days of old, years long past.At night I remember my music; I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders.

Lord, I remember Your judgments from long ago and find comfort.

I will remember the Lord’s works; yes, I will remember Your ancient wonders.I will reflect on all You have done and meditate on Your actions.

Has His faithful love ceased forever? Is His promise at an end for all generations?

He says to himself,“ I will never be moved— from generation to generation without calamity.”
