In the street the sword will make them childless; in their homes terror will reign. The young men and young women will perish, the infants and those with gray hair.

In the streets their children will be killed by swords. Their homes will be filled with terror. The young men and women will die. The babies and old people will die.

Outdoors the sword shall bereave, and indoors terror, for young man and woman alike, the nursing child with the man of gray hairs.

Outside, the sword will bring death, and inside, terror will strike both young men and young women, both infants and the aged.

Outside, the sword will take their children, and inside, there will be terror; the young man and the young woman will be killed, the infant and the gray-haired man.

城外有刀剑，城内有瘟疫和饥荒；在田野的必死在刀下，在城里的必被饥荒和瘟疫吞灭。

耶和华啊！你看，患难临到我！我的心肠激动，我的心在我里面翻转，因为我曾经非常悖逆。街上有刀剑使人丧子，屋里也有死亡。

耶和华使迦勒底人的王上来攻打他们，在他们的圣殿里用刀杀了他们的壮丁，少男和少女以及年老衰弱的，他们都不怜惜；耶和华把所有这些人都交在迦勒底王的手里。

你们却说：“不！我们要骑马奔跑。”所以你们真的要逃跑；你们又说：“我们要骑快马。”所以那些追赶你们的，也必快速！

因为死亡从窗户上来，进入我们的堡垒；要从街上剪除孩童，从广场上剪除年轻人。

我们从前到了马其顿的时候，身体一点安宁也没有，反而处处遭受患难，外面有争战，里面有恐惧。

至于你们剩下的人，我必使他们在仇敌之地胆战心惊；风吹落叶也会吓跑他们；他们必逃跑，好像逃避刀剑一样；虽然无人追赶，他们却跌倒。虽然无人追赶，他们却像面临刀剑，彼此撞跌；你们在仇敌面前，不能站立得住。

婴儿的舌头因干渴而紧贴上膛；孩童求饼，却没有人分给他们。

夜里每到交更的时分，你要起来呼喊；在主面前你要倾心如水！你的孩童在各街头上因饥饿而昏倒，你要为他们的性命向主举手祷告。“耶和华啊，求你观看！求你鉴察！你曾这样对待过谁呢？难道妇人应该吃掉自己所生的，就是自己所抚养的婴孩吗？难道祭司和先知应该在主的圣所里被杀害吗？”少年人和老年人都在街上倒卧在地死了；我的年轻男女都倒毙于刀下；在你忿怒的日子，你杀了他们，你屠杀了他们，毫不怜惜。你从四围招聚惊吓我的，好像招聚人过节的日子一样。在耶和华忿怒的日子，没有人可以逃脱，可以生存。我所抚育、所养大的，我的仇敌都灭尽了。
