That’s when all the Israelites come to appear in front of the Lord your God at the holy tent. It will be at the place he will choose. You must read this law to them.

你們的上帝耶和華要在你們眾支派中選一個地方作祂的居所，你們要去那裡敬拜祂，

「你們所有男子要每年三次，即在無酵節、七七收穫節和住棚節，在你們的上帝耶和華指定的地方朝見祂。你們不可空手朝見，各人要按祂賜的福分，盡自己的能力獻上禮物。

因為自古以來，在各城都有人宣講摩西的律法，每逢安息日，都有人在會堂裡誦讀。」

第二天，全體民眾的族長、祭司和利未人都到律法教師以斯拉那裡，要深入研究律法上的話。

全體民眾萬眾一心，聚集在水門前的廣場上。他們請律法教師以斯拉帶來耶和華藉摩西頒給以色列人的律法書。七月一日，以斯拉祭司把律法書帶到能聽懂的男女會眾面前，面向水門前的廣場，從清早到正午一直向他們宣讀律法書，人們都側耳傾聽。律法教師以斯拉站在為這聚會預備的木臺上，站在他右邊的是瑪他提雅、示瑪、亞奈雅、烏利亞、希勒迦和瑪西雅；站在他左邊的是毗大雅、米沙利、瑪基雅、哈順、哈拔大拿、撒迦利亞和米書蘭。以斯拉站在高處，他在全體會眾面前一打開書卷，他們都站了起來。以斯拉稱頌偉大的上帝耶和華，全體民眾都舉手應聲說：「阿們！阿們！」他們又面伏於地，俯伏敬拜耶和華。耶書亞、巴尼、示利比、雅憫、亞谷、沙比太、荷第雅、瑪西雅、基利他、亞撒利雅、約撒拔、哈難、毗萊雅和利未人幫助民眾明白律法，當時民眾都站在自己的地方。他們宣讀上帝的律法書，並解釋清楚，使民眾明白所宣讀的。

讀完律法書和先知書後，會堂主管派人告訴他們：「弟兄們，如果你們有什麼勸勉眾人的話，請講。」

我要從你面前趕走外族人，擴張你的領土。你一年三次來朝見你的上帝耶和華時，必沒有人貪戀你的土地。

他們越走越有力，都要到錫安朝見上帝。

要在耕種後、收取初熟之物的時候守收割節。要在年終從田間收取勞動成果時守收藏節。以色列所有的男子都要在這三個節期上來朝見主耶和華。

他們站在自己的地方，宣讀他們上帝耶和華的律法書，長達三個小時。他們又用了三個小時認罪，敬拜他們的上帝耶和華。

祂來到自己長大的地方拿撒勒，照常在安息日進會堂，並站起來誦讀聖經。有人把以賽亞先知書遞給祂，祂打開書卷，找到這樣一段經文：

從第一天到最後一天，以斯拉每天都誦讀上帝的律法書。他們守節期七天，第八天根據典章舉行莊嚴的聚會。
