“ So it will be when all of these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have placed before you, and you call them to mind in all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you,

“当我向你们陈明的这些祝福和咒诅都应验在你们身上时，如果你们在你们的上帝耶和华驱逐你们去的各国中回想这些话，

“当这一切事，就是我摆在你面前的祝福和咒诅，都临到你身上的时候，你在耶和华你的神赶逐你去的万国中，你心里必回想这些话，

「當我向你們陳明的這些祝福和咒詛都應驗在你們身上時，如果你們在你們的上帝耶和華驅逐你們去的各國中回想這些話，

“當這一切事，就是我擺在你面前的祝福和咒詛，都臨到你身上的時候，你在耶和華你的神趕逐你去的萬國中，你心裡必回想這些話，

『將來這些事、我所擺在你面前的祝福與咒詛、臨到你身上以後，你在永恆主你的上帝所放逐你到的列國中、你心裏若回想起這些事，

我所陳於爾前之祝與詛、既已臨爾、於爾上帝耶和華逐爾而至之邦、追憶此事、

我所言之純嘏咒詛、既降臨於爾、爾之上帝耶和華驅逐爾眾、散於四方、而爾追憶是事、與子孫一心一意、歸爾上帝耶和華、遵從其言、

我所陳於爾前之福與禍、既降於爾、主爾之天主驅逐爾散於列邦、爾在彼中心追維此事、

When all these blessings and curses I have set before you come on you and you take them to heart wherever the Lord your God disperses you among the nations,

I have told you about all these blessings and curses. The Lord your God will bring them on you. Then you will think carefully about the blessings and curses. You will think about them everywhere the Lord your God scatters you among the nations.

“ And when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God has driven you,

“ In the future, when you experience all these blessings and curses I have listed for you, and when you are living among the nations to which the Lord your God has exiled you, take to heart all these instructions.

“ When all these things happen to you— the blessings and curses I have set before you— and you come to your senses while you are in all the nations where the LORD your God has driven you,

“ Now it shall come to pass, when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God drives you,

And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither Jehovah thy God hath driven thee,

“ When all these things happen to you— the blessings and curses I have set before you— and you come to your senses while you are in all the nations where the Lord your God has driven you,

And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call[ them] to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,

“ When you have experienced all these things, both the blessings and the curses I have set before you, you will reflect upon them in all the nations where the LORD your God has banished you.

It shall happen, when all these things have come on you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you shall call them to mind among all the nations where Yahweh your God has driven you,

“ See, I have placed before you today life and happiness, and death and adversity,

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have placed before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,

if they take it to heart in the land where they have been taken captive, and repent and implore Your favor in the land of those who have taken them captive, saying,‘ We have sinned and done wrong, we have acted wickedly’;if they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who have taken them captive, and pray to You toward their land which You have given to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and the house which I have built for Your name;

But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.When you are in distress and all these things happen to you, in the latter days you will return to the Lord your God and listen to His voice.

“ See, I am placing before you today a blessing and a curse:the blessing, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, which I am commanding you today;and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I am commanding you today, by following other gods which you have not known.

Furthermore, the Lord will scatter you among all the peoples, from one end of the earth to the other; and there you will serve other gods, made of wood and stone, which you and your fathers have not known.

so that there will not be among you a man or woman, or family or tribe, whose heart turns away today from the Lord our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; that there will not be among you a root bearing poisonous fruit and wormwood.And it shall be when he hears the words of this curse, that he will consider himself fortunate in his heart, saying,‘ I will do well though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart in order to destroy the watered land along with the dry.’The Lord will not be willing to forgive him, but rather the anger of the Lord and His wrath will burn against that person, and every curse that is written in this book will lie upon him, and the Lord will wipe out his name from under heaven.Then the Lord will single him out for disaster from all the tribes of Israel, in accordance with all the curses of the covenant which is written in this Book of the Law.“ Now the future generation, your sons who rise up after you and the foreigner who comes from a distant land, when they see the plagues of that land and the diseases with which the Lord has afflicted it, will say,‘ All its land is brimstone and salt, burned debris, unsown and unproductive, and no grass grows on it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in His anger and in His wrath.’

and the Lord uprooted them from their land in anger, fury, and in great wrath, and hurled them into another land, as it is this day.’

Since he understood and turned away from all his offenses which he had committed, he shall certainly live; he shall not die.

And death will be chosen rather than life by all the remnant that remains of this evil family, that remains in all the places to which I have driven them,” declares the Lord of armies.

‘ You shall not make for yourselves idols, nor shall you set up for yourselves a carved image or a memorial stone, nor shall you place a figured stone in your land to bow down to it; for I am the Lord your God.You shall keep My Sabbaths and revere My sanctuary; I am the Lord.If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments so as to carry them out,then I shall give you rains in their season, so that the land will yield its produce and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.Indeed, your threshing season will last for you until grape gathering, and grape gathering will last until sowing time. So you will eat your food to the full and live securely in your land.I shall also grant peace in the land, so that you may lie down, with no one to make you afraid. I shall also eliminate harmful animals from the land, and no sword will pass through your land.Instead, you will chase your enemies, and they will fall before you by the sword;five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand; and your enemies will fall before you by the sword.So I will turn toward you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will confirm My covenant with you.And you will eat the old supply, and clear out the old because of the new.Moreover, I will make My dwelling among you, and My soul will not reject you.I will also walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so that you would not be their slaves, and I broke your yoke and made you walk erect.‘ But if you do not obey Me and do not carry out all these commandments,if, instead, you reject My statutes, and if your soul loathes My ordinances so as not to carry out all My commandments, but rather to break My covenant,I, in turn, will do this to you: I will summon a sudden terror against you, consumption and fever that will make the eyes fail and the soul languish; also, you will sow your seed uselessly, for your enemies will eat it.And I will set My face against you so that you will be defeated before your enemies; and those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when no one is pursuing you.If also after these things you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.I will also break down your pride of power; and I will make your sky like iron and your earth like bronze.Your strength will be consumed uselessly, for your land will not yield its produce and the trees of the land will not yield their fruit.‘ Yet if you show hostility toward Me and are unwilling to obey Me, I will increase the plague on you seven times according to your sins.I will also let loose among you the animals of the field, which will deprive you of your children and eliminate your cattle, and reduce your number so that your roads become deserted.‘ And if by these things you do not learn your lesson regarding Me, but you show hostility toward Me,then I in turn will show hostility toward you; and I, even I, will strike you seven times for your sins.I will also bring upon you a sword which will execute vengeance for the covenant; and when you gather together into your cities, I will send a plague among you, so that you will be handed over to the enemy.When I break your staff of bread, ten women will bake your bread in one oven, and they will bring back your bread in rationed amounts, so that you will eat and not be satisfied.‘ Yet if in spite of this you do not obey Me, but act with hostility against Me,then I will act with wrathful hostility against you, and I for My part will punish you seven times for your sins.Further, you will eat the flesh of your sons, and you will eat the flesh of your daughters.I then will destroy your high places, and cut down your incense altars, and pile your remains on the remains of your idols, for My soul will loathe you.I will turn your cities into ruins as well and make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your soothing aromas.And I will make the land desolate so that your enemies who settle in it will be appalled at it.You, however, I will scatter among the nations, and I will draw out a sword after you, as your land becomes desolate and your cities become ruins.‘ Then the land will restore its Sabbaths all the days of the desolation, while you are in your enemies’ land; then the land will rest and restore its Sabbaths.All the days of its desolation it will have the rest which it did not have on your Sabbaths, while you were living on it.As for those among you who are left, I will also bring despair into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. And the sound of a scattered leaf will chase them, and even when no one is pursuing they will flee as though from the sword, and they will fall.They will then stumble over each other as if running from the sword, although no one is pursuing; and you will have no strength to stand before your enemies.Instead, you will perish among the nations, and your enemies’ land will consume you.So those of you who may be left will rot away because of their wrongdoing in the lands of your enemies; and also because of the wrongdoing of their forefathers they will rot away with them.‘ But if they confess their wrongdoing and the wrongdoing of their forefathers, in their unfaithfulness which they committed against Me, and also in their acting with hostility against Me—I also was acting with hostility against them, to bring them into the land of their enemies— or if their uncircumcised heart is humbled so that they then make amends for their wrongdoing,then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and I will remember also My covenant with Isaac, and My covenant with Abraham as well, and I will remember the land.For the land will be abandoned by them, and will restore its Sabbaths while it is made desolate without them. They, meanwhile, will be making amends for their wrongdoing, because they rejected My ordinances and their soul loathed My statutes.Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, nor will I so loathe them as to destroy them, breaking My covenant with them; for I am the Lord their God.But I will remember for them the covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, so that I might be their God. I am the Lord.’ ”These are the statutes and ordinances and laws which the Lord established between Himself and the sons of Israel through Moses on Mount Sinai.

“ Remember this, and be assured; Recall it to mind, you wrongdoers.

Behold, You have driven me this day from the face of the ground; and I will be hidden from Your face, and I will be a wanderer and a drifter on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”

Then Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying,“ Keep all the commandments which I am commanding you today.So it shall be on the day when you cross the Jordan to the land which the Lord your God is giving you, that you shall set up for yourself large stones and coat them with limeand write on them all the words of this Law, when you cross over, so that you may enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, promised you.So it shall be when you cross the Jordan, you shall set up these stones on Mount Ebal, as I am commanding you today, and you shall coat them with lime.Moreover, you shall build there an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones; you shall not wield an iron tool on them.You shall build the altar of the Lord your God of uncut stones, and you shall offer on it burnt offerings to the Lord your God;and you shall sacrifice peace offerings and eat there, and rejoice before the Lord your God.You shall write on the stones all the words of this Law very clearly.”Then Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel, saying,“ Be silent and listen, Israel! This day you have become a people for the Lord your God.So you shall obey the Lord your God, and do His commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today.”Moses also commanded the people on that day, saying,“ When you cross the Jordan, these tribes shall stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.For the curse, these tribes shall stand on Mount Ebal: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.The Levites shall then respond and say to all the people of Israel with a loud voice,‘ Cursed is the person who makes a carved image or cast metal image, an abomination to the Lord, the work of the hands of a craftsman, and sets it up in secret.’ And all the people shall reply and say,‘ Amen.’‘ Cursed is one who treats his father or mother contemptuously.’ And all the people shall say,‘ Amen.’‘ Cursed is one who displaces his neighbor’s boundary marker.’ And all the people shall say,‘ Amen.’‘ Cursed is one who misleads a person who is blind on the road.’ And all the people shall say,‘ Amen.’‘ Cursed is one who distorts the justice due a stranger, an orphan, or a widow.’ And all the people shall say,‘ Amen.’‘ Cursed is he who sleeps with his father’s wife, because he has uncovered his father’s garment.’ And all the people shall say,‘ Amen.’‘ Cursed is one who has sexual intercourse with any animal.’ And all the people shall say,‘ Amen.’‘ Cursed is he who sleeps with his sister, the daughter of his father or of his mother.’ And all the people shall say,‘ Amen.’‘ Cursed is he who sleeps with his mother in law.’ And all the people shall say,‘ Amen.’‘ Cursed is he who attacks his neighbor in secret.’ And all the people shall say,‘ Amen.’‘ Cursed is he who accepts a bribe to attack an innocent person.’ And all the people shall say,‘ Amen.’‘ Cursed is anyone who does not fulfill the words of this Law by doing them.’ And all the people shall say,‘ Amen.’

But when he came to his senses, he said,‘ How many of my father’s hired laborers have more than enough bread, but I am dying here from hunger!
