Your children and wives are here with you too. So are the outsiders living in your camps. They chop your wood and carry your water.

your infants, your wives, and the foreigners living in your encampment, those who chop wood and those who carry water–

your little ones, your wives, and the foreigners who are in the middle of your camps, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water,

A mixed crowd also went up with them, along with a huge number of livestock, both flocks and herds.

There is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male and female; since you are all one in Christ Jesus.

If an alien resides among you and wants to observe the LORD’s Passover, every male in his household must be circumcised, and then he may participate; he will become like a native of the land. But no uncircumcised person may eat it.The same law will apply to both the native and the alien who resides among you.”

The riffraff among them had a strong craving for other food. The Israelites wept again and said,“ Who will feed us meat?

In Christ there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all.

They also said,“ Let them live.” So the Gibeonites became woodcutters and water carriers for the whole community, as the leaders had promised them.Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said to them,“ Why did you deceive us by telling us you live far away from us, when in fact you live among us?Therefore you are cursed and will always be slaves— woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.”The Gibeonites answered him,“ It was clearly communicated to your servants that the LORD your God had commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land before you. We greatly feared for our lives because of you, and that is why we did this.Now we are in your hands. Do to us whatever you think is right.”This is what Joshua did to them: he rescued them from the Israelites, and they did not kill them.On that day he made them woodcutters and water carriers— as they are today— for the community and for the LORD’s altar at the place he would choose.

but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. Do not do any work— you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, your ox or donkey, any of your livestock, or the resident alien who lives within your city gates, so that your male and female slaves may rest as you do.
