At midday you will grope about like a blind person in the dark. You will be unsuccessful in everything you do; day after day you will be oppressed and robbed, with no one to rescue you.

Even at noon you will have to feel your way around like a blind person in the dark. You won’t have success in anything you do. Day after day you will be robbed and treated badly. No one will be able to save you.

and you shall grope at noonday, as the blind grope in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways. And you shall be only oppressed and robbed continually, and there shall be no one to help you.

You will grope around in broad daylight like a blind person groping in the darkness, but you will not find your way. You will be oppressed and robbed continually, and no one will come to save you.

so that at noon you will grope as a blind person gropes in the dark. You will not be successful in anything you do. You will only be oppressed and robbed continually, and no one will help you.

我們摸索着牆壁、好像瞎子一樣；我們直摸索着、如同沒有眼睛的人；我們中午絆跌，如在黃昏一樣；我們在肥壯人中、就像死人一般。

他們白晝遇見黑暗，中午竟摸來摸去如夜間。

以色列人又行了永恆主所看為壞的事，永恆主就把他們交在非利士人手中四十年。

永恆主把他們交付在迦南王耶賓手中；耶賓在夏瑣作王；他的軍長西西拉，住在外國人的夏羅設。耶賓有鐵車九百輛，他又用力壓迫以色列人二十年，因此以色列人就向永恆主哀叫。

以色列人又行了永恆主所看為壞的事；永恆主就把他們交在米甸人手中七年。米甸人的手壓制以色列人；以色列人為了要躲避米甸人、就為自己造山中的穴、造洞和山寨。每逢以色列人播種之後，米甸人總上來，亞瑪力人和東方人也都上來、攻打他們，對着他們紮營，損毁地上的土產，直至你到了迦薩，都沒有剩下養生之物在以色列中；牛、羊、驢、都沒有剩下；因為那些人總帶着他們的牲畜和帳棚上來，來得像蝗蟲那麼多，人和駱駝無數，都進境內、來損毁它。以色列人因米甸人的緣故就降到極卑微的地步；以色列人便向永恆主哀呼。

於是以色列人服事了摩押王伊磯倫十八年。

從那年起，他們就破毁了壓制了約但河東邊、在基列的、在亞摩利人之地的、以色列眾人、十八年。

因此永恆主向他的人民發怒，厭惡了他的產業。把他們交於外國人手裏，恨惡他們的人就管轄他們。他們的仇敵壓迫他們，他們就在敵人手下被制伏了。

這地豐富的出產竟歸了列王，就是你因我們的罪所派來管轄我們的；他們也任意轄制我們這些人的身體和我們的牲口呢；我們真是受着大困迫啊。』

但我們的福音、就說是蒙着帕子罷、也是在滅亡着的人蒙着的。在他們、今世的神已把不信之人的心意弄瞎了，以致基督（上帝的像）榮耀之福音之光照不能發曉於他們心裏。

我必緊逼着人，以致他們行走像瞎眼的，因為他們犯罪得罪了永恆主；他們的血必倒出如灰塵，他們的內臟必被拋棄如糞土。

弟兄們，我不願意你們不明白這奧祕，免得你們自以為精明。這奧祕就是：以色列有幾分的頑梗，直等到外國人的滿數都進了來，

願他們的眼睛昏矇、不能看見；願他們的腰不斷地戰抖搖晃。求你將你的盛怒倒在他們身上，叫你的猛烈怒氣趕上他們。

那時以色列全地找不着一個匠人，因為非利士人說：『恐怕希伯來人製造刀矛。』以色列眾人都下到非利士人那裏各人修打自己的犂頭、耒耜、斧子、鐮刀；所費是一個犂頭或耒耜要一舍客勒銀子的三分之二，一根三齒叉、一個斧子或修整一根犂刺要一舍客勒銀子的三分之一。所以當爭戰的日子、跟隨掃羅和約拿單的人、沒有一個手裏有刀有矛的；惟獨掃羅和他兒子約拿單就有。

非利士人聚集了來、要同以色列人交戰；有車三千輛，駿馬六千，步兵像海邊的沙那麼多；他們上來，在伯亞文東邊、密抹紮營。以色列人見自己危急（因為以色列民真地窘迫），就藏在山洞、叢林、碞穴、地窘、或坑井中，或是渡過約但河渡口，到了迦得和基列地。那時掃羅還在吉甲；眾民都震顫發抖、跟從着他。

他們把黑暗摸來摸去，全沒有光；就迷迷糊糊像醉酒的人一樣。

『但他們居然悖逆，竟背叛了你，將你的律法丟在背後，殺害了你的神言人、那些勸告他們回轉歸向你的，而大大犯了褻慢你的罪。因此你將他們交在困迫他們、的人手中，去困迫他們；當他們受困迫的時候、他們向你哀叫，你就從天上垂聽，照你的大憐憫賜給他們拯救者、來拯救他們脫離困迫他們的人的手。但他們得享平靜之後，又在你面前行壞事；故此你撇棄了他們在仇敵手中，讓仇敵管轄他們；然而他們轉回過來，向你哀呼，你仍從天上垂聽，照你屢次的憐憫援救他們。你又勸告他們、要使他們轉而歸服你的律法；他們卻狂妄傲慢，不聽從你的誡命，逕自犯了違背你典章的罪（人若遵行典章，就必因這而活着），扭轉倔強的肩頭，硬着脖子，而不聽從。

那麼便怎麼樣呢？以色列所切求的、他們竟然沒有得着；惟獨蒙揀選的人得着了。其餘的人就成了頑梗不化的；正如經上所記的：『上帝給了他們麻木的靈，不能看的眼，不能聽的耳，直到今天這日子。』大衛也說：『願他們的筵席對他們成了網羅，成了機檻，成了絆跌物，又成了報應；願他們的眼昏矇、不能看見；願你使他們的脊背總是彎屈卑服。』

做奴僕的轄制我們；沒有人搶救我們脫離他們的手。

你帶着這幾個人，同他們行清潔禮，替他們納費，使他們得以剃頭髮。這樣，眾人便可知道所口傳關於你的話都是沒有的事；並且、就是你自己也反而是按規矩行、遵守律法的。

為了這事、我們心裏發暈，為了這些事、我們的眼昏暗，
