The fruit of your womb will be cursed, and the crops of your land, and the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.

Your children will be cursed. Your crops will be cursed. Your calves and lambs will be cursed.

Cursed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock.

Your offspring will be cursed, and your land’s produce, the young of your herds, and the newborn of your flocks.

“ Cursed will be the children of your womb, the produce of your ground, the newborn of your herd, and the offspring of your flock.

“ Cursed shall be the fruit of your body and the produce of your land, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.

Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, the increase of thy cattle, and the young of thy flock.

Your descendants will be cursed, and your land’s produce, the young of your herds, and the newborn of your flocks.

I will destroy your food supply, so that ten women will need only one oven to bake bread for their families. They will ration your food by weight, and though you have food to eat, you will not be satisfied.

I will break your proud spirit by making the skies as unyielding as iron and the earth as hard as bronze.All your work will be for nothing, for your land will yield no crops, and your trees will bear no fruit.

May his children become fatherless, and his wife a widow.May his children wander as beggars and be driven from their ruined homes.May creditors seize his entire estate, and strangers take all he has earned.Let no one be kind to him; let no one pity his fatherless children.May all his offspring die. May his family name be blotted out in the next generation.May the Lord never forget the sins of his fathers; may his mother’s sins never be erased from the record.May the Lord always remember these sins, and may his name disappear from human memory.

For the days are coming when they will say,‘ Fortunate indeed are the women who are childless, the wombs that have not borne a child and the breasts that have never nursed.’People will beg the mountains,‘ Fall on us,’ and plead with the hills,‘ Bury us.’

You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected— even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.

I have cried until the tears no longer come; my heart is broken. My spirit is poured out in agony as I see the desperate plight of my people. Little children and tiny babies are fainting and dying in the streets.They cry out to their mothers,“ We need food and drink!” Their lives ebb away in the streets like the life of a warrior wounded in battle. They gasp for life as they collapse in their mothers’ arms.

I will punish your descendants and splatter your faces with the manure from your festival sacrifices, and I will throw you on the manure pile.

“ O Lord, think about this! Should you treat your own people this way? Should mothers eat their own children, those they once bounced on their knees? Should priests and prophets be killed within the Lord’s Temple?

The glory of Israel will fly away like a bird, for your children will not be born or grow in the womb or even be conceived.Even if you do have children who grow up, I will take them from you. It will be a terrible day when I turn away and leave you alone.I have watched Israel become as beautiful as Tyre. But now Israel will bring out her children for slaughter.”O Lord, what should I request for your people? I will ask for wombs that don’t give birth and breasts that give no milk.

Their roots will dry up, and their branches will wither.All memory of their existence will fade from the earth; no one will remember their names.They will be thrust from light into darkness, driven from the world.They will have neither children nor grandchildren, nor any survivor in the place where they lived.

Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty,

Your towns and your fields will be cursed.
